True. Yankee fans love to spend cash on a team that has, by all accounts, not really lived up to their colossal yearly expectations.

On the other hand, it’s better to spend an exhorbitant amount of money to maintain a status quo that is Is always a winning record and a playoff team then it is to have your GM pronounce that “its liftoff from here” as tge O’s GM did, and sign exactly nobody so far…..

I just personally think the Yankees would have been much better off letting Judge walk, and signing several high on base percentage guys to their roster chock full of all-or-nothing hitters.
Agree with you bout what we could have gotten if he left..

But, judge is more than just the money. He filled a tremendous void here in NY when Jete’s left. No one could have ever thought that someone could fill that void as quick as judge did.

Dude is an icon , he’s a mentor. The best role model you can ask for. A true professional.

In this day and age , he’s worth every penny.

it's not even the outbidding part that bothers me, it's that they didn't lock him up with the offer they made in free agency before he became a free agent. This franchise completely botched extending Mookie (they were lowballing him during arbitration) and Lester as well, and look like they're going to botch the Devers situation.

Sorry, he's worth what the Sox offered.

Padres making a desperate move doesn't change that.

Slightly more than Story is more than a fair offer.

I can live with that.

Onviously he’s worth what he got from the Padres. The Sox lowballed him. And Mookie.

Yankees still need a left fielder, but the pickings are getting mighty slim.

MIght have decided to just roll with a Cabrera/Hicks platoon

I remember when I thought the Hicks contract was a good deal.

The only thing he's really got going for him these days is his walk rate, but his power is diminishing, along with his defense.

Think they should've tried harder for Benentendi

Yup, the deal looked good at the time, but he's fallen off a cliff.....I was shocked that they didn't put up a fight for Benentendi looking at what's left out there......

Weird they invited Jeter and Randolph but not Nettles and Guidry.

Maybe little Stein is still pissed Nettles called big Stein a fat fuck who didn't understand baseball.

:noidea:
