Yikes he might be gone

I would love to see Judge stay even with the amount of money it would take to resign him. But realistically what are you going to get out of him year in and year out from now on. 40 homers and between .280 to .300 BA for playing 130 games.

Judge is a Yankee for life.

Well, until he breaks down and they end up using a good prospect or two to entice the Dodgers to take him off their hands. . .

Nicely done, as usual.

True. Yankee fans love to spend cash on a team that has, by all accounts, not really lived up to their colossal yearly expectations.

On the other hand, it’s better to spend an exhorbitant amount of money to maintain a status quo that is Is always a winning record and a playoff team then it is to have your GM pronounce that “its liftoff from here” as tge O’s GM did, and sign exactly nobody so far…..

I just personally think the Yankees would have been much better off letting Judge walk, and signing several high on base percentage guys to their roster chock full of all-or-nothing hitters.

I’ve gone back and forth on this one. I wasn’t sure if it was better for the Yankees to be saddled with another colossal contract signed at the peak of all peaks for a player, OR having all that cash to spend elsewhere on the roster.

I think this contract will be an issue for the last few years. Judge wouldn’t seem to be a guy that ages well into his late 30’s. It could also be an issue that the Yankees have about $100m committed to Stanton, Cole and Judge over the next 5 years. We’ll see. The Yankees’ hands were basically tied here. They HAD to get him signed. This might limit their options for the rest of the roster going forward with luxury tax penalties.
