What do you think this extension will look like? They need to get his 2022 salary figured out first. How many more years are going to be given after that?

7 @ 33 Would put him between the two highest FA contracts from this offseason. I see that as a starting point with one or both of those numbers going up from there. Both Seager and Lindor got 10 year contracts this off season. Cole is getting 36 million per. If the Yankees think Judge is as important to the team as he is, they are going to have to reach one of those numbers.

I think they're trying to include this year in the extension. I'm guessing 10 years, the captaincy, and somewhere in the neighborhood of $300M

10 years?? Yikes. I had no idea they were thinking that long. I know they HAVE to keep him around, but he’s 30 and has a history of getting hurt. I figured the team would angle for 5-6 years with some option years tacked on. That doesn’t figure to get it done, though.

I can’t believe this is going to be Stanton’s 5th year with the Yankees already!?! Where does the time go?

And that contract doesn't look quite so ugly these days.

So we got that going for us, which is nice.

Cole/Severino/Montgomery/Taillon/Cortes in that order to start the season

They really should have gotten themselves another starter

He’s 32 and has 7(?) years left on that deal. Still plenty of time for it to look ugly again.

And I’m not sure you got much value out of the first 4 years he was there, but what the hell do I know?

The Sox have paid Devers less than $7m TOTAL for his last 4 seasons. He’s been worth it!

Well, 6 plus an option, but with Miami's contribution, it's "only" a $25M hit per year.

And facts are facts-however old he is now, no one hits the ball harder than he does.

You are correct that $25m/year isn’t a lot for an elite player in MLB these days. I’m just not sure he’s still that guy(or that he’s ever really been that guy in NYC)?

He certainly has the tendency to be very scary and get red-hot for a month at a time, though.

Oh no doubt.

I've never seen anyone who can look so bad, and so good, all in the same AB.

And of course, he's got to stay healthy. Contrary to what you'd think, he seems to do better in that regard when he's getting regular reps in the OF. I'd like to see that continue, but unfortunately I remember who the manager is.
