Yeah that is true... IF they do not sign him this could be a terrible trade.. Let's hope he remains healthy and this all works out

Don't mean to sound like a doomer. I did want Crochet. I was just surprised at what they gave up.

yea... surprised the red sox got him... its an overpay for a team like the red sox who still need to do a lot to compete... many think they overperformed last season just to be 500... if they are that good already, this is a better move...

Have to get an extension done

Need to trade yoshida in arenado deal

Jordan Montgomery

I prefer practically every other franchises fans over yankee fans.

I would bet most franchises’s fans would agree with me.

I definitely prefer sox fans over yankee fans.

Feels like an overpay and a panic move as the Sox were looking at another failed offseason. I like Crochet, but he’s not an ace. They do need him in the rotation, though. I think Teel will be a good one, but I understand why he had to be in this deal. Now they need to extend him(which I think they will).

You knew they would "react" and do something.. I think they just gave up too much for him but he easily could prove us all wrong

Pretty much like the Sale deal. Crochet has an extremely high ceiling when healthy but can you count on him to be healthy? That is the big question

I think Crochet carries a little more risk just because there's a lot less of a track record. At least Sale had five consecutive seasons of 26+ starts and 170+ innings in Chicago.

Why are people freaking about the Crochet trade? It's a good young pitcher for some good young prospects. I've heard it called blockbuster... This dude calls it seismic... They've been talking about it for months...

I can live with Montgomery because they have a LOT of OF prospects, but Teel is a tough loss. I thought they viewed him as the starting catcher long-term. I wonder if his defense is not good enough to stick at catcher. He definitely seems like he can hit.

This “instant analysis” stuff is so fucking stupid. They do the same with NFL draft grades immediately after it’s over as if anyone has any idea. This is one of those deals that can be revisited in several years to see how it turned out. I just hope the Sox can extend Crochet to make all that prospect cost worthwhile.

Curious to see what a trade would look like. I do think Bellinger's 2023 was a flash in the pan though, he way outperformed his Statcast metrics. I feel like 2020 and 2024 Bellinger is what you should expect. Useful player, but a far cry from pre-2020 Bellinger. I'd rather pry Suzuki if you're going to go after a Cubs outfielder.

Speculative divide in Boston's front office:

This quote caught my eye:
"there are people in the Red Sox organization who believe Bregman is likely to stay with the Astros, while some prominent Astros folks think he’ll end up with the Red Sox."

Reminder: Bregman turned down $26m per year (6 @ $156)

He could have a couple good years but I would stay away if I was Boston for $30M per year
