Dodgers closed 9.5 games in 21 days. Anything is possible. Harder to get there for Red Sox chasing 3 teams and not just the Jays though.

Mid August would be more realistic, if even then? Steve Ringo is right about they might not sell now.

On 6/30/03 Marlins were 11 games out of 1st As a yankee fan u should remember them:suds:

They got lucky and hot at the right time.

Agreed. But as long as they are "theoretically" still in it, they wont start selling off their parts...

Which is a mistake.

The only team in the East I see as sellers at this point would be the Rays. I'd love to see the Yankees pick up Price.

I had visions of Price to Tigers and Smyly back to the bullpen.... then I woke up.

It's grueling watching the Red Sox game on MASN with these horrible accents. :L

"And Pedroia strikes out on a split-finger upsteeeeehs."

Revolting.

Arrieta has a no-hitter going through 7 IP. :hope:

Two strikeouts to get out of it.

Why were the fans yelling "Derek Jeter, De rek Je ter"? It is times like that that I understand all the hatred of Yankees fans.

The Red Sox network is NESN. MASN is for the O's and Nats.

While I've listened to the Red Sox broadcasts before when they've played the O's on MLB Network (and agree with the awful accents), I'd still much rather listen to a full game of that than 5 minutes of Hawk Harrelson.

As for Arrieta... I wish we could've seen him pitch like this when he was in an O's uniform. I guess it shows that getting out of the AL East for some pitchers is definitely a good thing. Him and Hammel both have been solid this year.

Outside of his 2012 in AA, there's been little reason to believe he'd ever amount to much of anything offensively.

Don't worry though, Brock Holt is pretty much the Sox equivalent of Solarte. Holt's riding a BABIP around .385. He isn't keeping that up.

I think they both can be nice utility players, but that's really it.

Martin was really really good last year. His offense was alright last year (his 100 OPS+ was his highest since '08, and 100 is actually pretty decent from the catcher position), but Martin also rated as an excellent defender and pitch framer. Martin's hit pretty well this year (in fact, he has a .407 OBP), but he's only played 44 games.

Salty was pretty good for the Sox last year, but I would have taken Martin over him easily.
