He did throw above 97 mph tonight.

clearly he was still working through that painful sore quad..thats what I call HEART.
I think he is just pacing himself for the play offs. maybe he only wins 18 games this year.
still.. only pitchers with 18 or more wins in the central will come from the Detroit tigers...

I blame Leyland for that. why are all his teams worse in the second half???(2012 is a exception)????

The difference is your ace lost the game for you, the Indians made unforced errors that you usually don't see. I would be more worried about JV have two really terrible starts out of the last 3.

The Tribe SP has been great the last two, just need some hitters to get out of their funk and we will go back to winning.

Verlander is struggling this year. no doubt..but his struggles are still better than %75 of most pitchers

Before Texas he had Chicago. Gavecup 2 HRs, 12 hits and 5 runs. That is 2/3 bad starts. GL w/ that!

Well dougie.....it sure seems like this 'patch' Verlander is going through, sure is a long one. (Hasn't anyone told you that "W' are team stats?)

dougie, maybe Leyland has not figured out that his pitching staff AND his offense is over-rated. You don't win games on paper. Tigers had ANOTHER poor outing from Verlander, their offense could not knock in runs with less than two outs, and two of their runs were a gift. But you go on blaming the manager....like I have said...it is S.O.P. for fans who can't think past their noses.

BTW doug, Cabrera's heart seems a little weak lately. Davis is just about to pass him in RBI's. Oh, oh, oh...I almost forgot. The 'bad back' excuse, right?

Kind of puzzling. Both the Yankees and Tigers have 52 wins so far. However if you put Detroit's usual lineup, side by side with the Yankees'....you wonder HOW their records are near identical. AND Detroit is suppose to have better starting pitching. Just how many loses can Tiger fans blame on their bullpen? There is something wrong in how the Tigers function as a team. Maybe just a lack of fundamentals and desire? Hard to say.
