I always wanted to see guys like Nick Punto in the home run derby, one home run could win, that would be more fun than watching 250 pound guys getting tired swinging as hard as they can 50 times. they should have the stolen base competition for guiys like Prince, that would make it more fun IMO.

Home run Derby has been losing steam and it's mostly because the same guys are doing it. Heck, even the captain Cano is in it again and I love Cano.

It should be the top homer guys for the season. At least Davis joined. Get Dunn or something. Or a young guy like Trout.

We all know Prince can win it already. New guys.

9-3.........78-48............thats the tigers record vs the injuns this year and have outscored them by 30 runs. .......glad we get to play them alot......now bring the lowly chi sox to town.......

Lets hope tigs dont struggle vs the chi sox.....they seem to let off the gas vs last place teams sometimes.

I think the fans today would prefer that there be no 'actual' HR Derby. I think most would be happier if Lucas Films and the top software company "create" a derby using computer graphics. Fielder would be hitting 3000 foot homeruns into the Grand Canyon. Ortiz could be reproduced hitting a homer that travels all the way back to Boston. Cano could smack one off the Empire State Bldg, that then bounces off Yankee Stadium, then off a bridge, through a basketball hoop while LaBron watches.

To anyone under 18....real life is boring. Go with the graphics and fantasy Selig!

The HR derby is unfair in that players are selected. Way, way back in the day there was a HR derby show where top sluggers would meet one-on-one. That was the stuff. Willie Mays vs. Harmon Killibrew. Mantle vs. Aaron... the All-Star bloated production reeks of celebrity. When guys like JV laugh off getting rocked, and the AL loses the WS home rights for it.. it is a joke. The only way to keep the HR fair and fun is to include everyone. Have a 750 man tournament, divisions play each other... until the final at the end of the season. Just like the old show, 9 innings, 3 out..

Not for the tigers...how big is his contract for a team thats needs a 5 or 6 hitter? If he was a 2nd baseman maybe....but not many teams wanna pay alot for a 1B/DH with not much power anymore.

HR derby is a joke. Im just saying the champ should return....dunk contest is a joke too.....havent watched that for awhile now. The AS break is the worst time of summer. Boring 3 days with no REAL baseball. Do you think a twin or astro cares who wins? They arent contending for a title. Most players dont care. All about $$$$$$$$$$
