doug.....great game by Verlander. One or two more of similar quality, in his next few starts, would make me feel more secure, however.

As for 'W's being a team stat. I would think almost anyone would see that. Scherzer did not accomplish his 13 wins without his team's help. The idea of a 'W' being a team stat, and not so much a stat to judge a pitcher's effectiveness...has been accepted for some time now. It is the reason that most voters look more at a pitcher's ERA, K/BB ratio, BAA, and WHIP to select a CY winner.

You need a solid 1-4, 1-5 rotation, but you ABSOLUTELY need a bullpen, that is something the Tigs don't have at all. That is the reason the Tigs will fail this year!

Tigers didnt have a bullpen last year and made it to the WS. when they got there, the SP, and hitting failed them.

To clarify the Scherzer point, what would Max's record be if he pitched for say... the Twins. I am guessing not 13-0. Probably 7-6. I think KC and Clev are in this thing, the Tigers have not shown superiority to date.

Was listening to the guy on mad dog radio earlier. I guess he was a bo sox fan. Was rippin the twins for being owned by the yankees over the years. I guess he hates the yanks so much he was hoping for ONE twin victory. He said, of all sports, thats the worst team vs team as far as one team winning a game every once in awhile. Anyone kno the twins record over the past 10 years or so, since the yanks were sweeping them away? And it seems the tigs have owned the yanks during that time.....its seattle, and anaheim and baltimore we seem to struggle with.

It is frustrating when the team you hate the most completely owns you. We are like 23-71 under Gardy vs. Yanks. I am finally entertaining thoughts of a new coach. I like Gardenhire, think he is good, but we should not be .250 vs. anyone. I heard on the radio the all-time worst MLB team ever (62 Mets) had the same (or better) winning pct. That has to change.

Funny....if this was a video game, we could put leyland, who alot of tiger fans hate, on the twins......and put gardy on the tigers, where he will get a team of "high paid superstars", something he hasnt really ever had....maybe 1-3 on a team he has coached.......and see if leylands "old school" way would work for the twins....and see if gardy could get the tigers to play up to their potential more often.....the only thing....the tigers might win 100 games with gardy, then get swept by the yanks in the playoffs..but either way, minny would be screwed.
