I am not sure why DassBums cherrypicked batting avgs against Fastballs or Offspeed (whatever it is) while listing it as if it were simply a comprehensive batting avg in the month of august.

I wasn't digging dickweed, you stat guys are. I, personally, wouldn't give a shit if someone said this hitter or that hitter was the best hitter they've ever seen. I come on here to give, and read opinions. You nerds look up stats.

So you're just making shit up then, and your response is "I come here to give opinions"....making crap up is not an opinion...it's making crap up.

They put up two lists....batting average against fastballs....and batting average against off speed pitches....none of the guys made the other list and vice versa...

Just search Eric Hosmer august and its the 4th site down.

Why would anyone put so much weight on batting avg vs fastballs and not just the entire month's numbers?

Aug OPS:
Miggy... Do I even bother to list it? something over 1.100... Yeah...

Vmart : 949
Hosmer: 919
Butler: 880

Sure, Vmart has been solid, but Vmart isn't exactly making Hosmer look like a total scrub, but has been better in August to be sure.

I didn't say he was but I've got for August(from espn > stats > gamelogs

obp/slg/ops/ba

Vmart - 449/491/940/398
Hosmer - 388/476/864/323

Mostly I was wondering what that other list was supposed to be.

Ty, for getting a more accurate number, but yeah, I am wondering why he chose those stats first of all. After finding said numbers, I then wonder why he presented it as if it were a comprehensive stat for the entire month of Aug such as avg. After all, you don't just see fastballs and OS.

Not sure where you got that crap but neither Hosmer's nor Butler's August numbers can touch Vmart's much less Miggy's.

Another correct stat....since June 19th, 2013...only Adrian Beltre and Victor Martinez has had more hits than Eric Hosmer....that would be 60 hits in 43 games...

I get my stats from actually statistics, its not hard......I told you where I got the first ones and what they are based off of...but you go ahead...and tell me they are false, lol

I just said I read some stats the other day that were interesting...I even stated that there were 2 lists...one for batters against the fastball and one for batters against the off speed balls....its not hard to look up people....they are correct and VERY accurate.

Bryan Pena has the second highest BA in baseball since the AS break....behind Victor Martinez of course. Speaking of behind, The Rays are right now. So that Wild Card gap could be a little smaller, for those who are interested in the Wild Card Standings.

and they DIDN'T touch them, Hosmer and Butler were BETTER than both Vmart and Miggy's when it came to handling fastballs.....the facts are the facts....but nice opinion though..

and yet once again, Tigers fan deciding opionions are stronger than facts...nobody can be better than any Tigers players...they all are the greatest players to ever play the game....love how everyone keeps fighing for Avila as being one of the great catchers....that one continues and will always slay me....now Porcello will be a 250 game winner....you just can't make this stuff up.

They could be accurate, but back to the original issue...why is it important?

If you want to know who the hottest hitters are, why go with avg vs fastball rather than overall stats for the stated time period?

Alex Avila sucks donkey cock. (Imo of course)Only reason he's still a major leaguer is cuz his old man is assistant to Dombrowski. (That's a fact). Guys a horrible catcher. Can't throw out a baserunner to save his life.

I just want to see the Royals offense to be consistent for the rest of the year. They are going to need the bats to grow up either NOW or starting next year to think about playoffs. Oh, and the #4 and #5 can and should be upgraded.

Isn't Pena even worse defensively? I would cringe whenever I would see a runner with him at the backstop... it was a free stolen base every time it felt like.

Wow. That's a very significant stat. Thanks. I guess they must be really lousy with other types of pitches, huh ? Good to know. Do you have anything on BA against fastballs during night games when the temperature is under 70 in months with an 'R' in them ? :laugh3:
