Indicted for reckless or negligent injury to a child...This is on the CNN and ESPN pages..What in the hell is going on in the NFL ??? This could be a 278 year ban after what's happened of late...

Can't say he didn't see the tape...Pic purported to be of the boy's leg is posted online...If that's determined to be real, that should certainly be enough to do SOMETHING !!! I know it's innocent until proven guilty, but this seems to be almost a slam dunk...

It's not the National Felon's League for nothing you know. This stuff has existed for years. But with the more liberal media, and TMZ and such, it is getting much more exposure today than it ever did in the past.

In some cases it should, you don't abuse your kid mostly a four year old.

I grew up in a different time and my dad (as were many, many other parents) was a fan of corporal punishment as a way to get my attention...He NEVER drew blood or left me all bruised up... He did , however make his point...I seldom made the same mistake twice...There is a BIG difference in meting out discipline and crossing over the line of too much, IMO...

yet another class act to join the rest of them. Remember the times when people could actually look up to professional athletes as role models?

Yep, as I stated before, I lost respect for this sociopath awhile ago with his disconnected/disassociated behavior and reaction to when another son died. This latest incident doesn't surprise me. It's a pattern of behavior that has clinical symptoms and this dude should be in court-mandated therapy along with being banned as Blue stated from the felon league that Boss has labeled.

Regardless of what a little 4 year old did... You don't ever strike them that leaves scratches, cuts or bruising.

Yep ShaneC, correcto mondo. When corporate punishment gets to that level, it's no longer about teaching a child boundary violations and consequences for wrong behaviors. Corporate punishment is an effective method to teach that to children especially boys, but the damage inflicted that this guy did is about the untreated issues and pathologies residing in the "so-called" adult here. Sick bastard needs help.

Exactly. We would get the belt (Dad) or the wooden spoon (Mom), but never anywhere but on the backside, and never on bare skin. Never any blood, bruising, or marks; just a little sting to get the point across. None of us are violent as a result or look back on those punishments as anything but appropriate.

That type of punishment made us respect our parents ( even to this day ).

This society goes to the other 2 extremes. They either discipline too much ( like AP did ) or they don't punish at all. And then they want to question why we have kids shooting up schools and killing people.

HELLO! You never saw these things when children received proper discipline in love from their parents.

I am in no way saying what AP did was ok. But we are talking about a great RB that has been beaten on by defenses for years and some ways it was the other way around. When this aggression is a constant for these guys, week in and week out, I think sometimes they don't realize how to contain that aggression in a moment of anger. We all love NFL and the best moments in this game come from anger and emotion.

How do you turn it off? I don't care if it's a 4 year acting up or your wife slapping you silly.

We can't expect perfection from these guys that get their brains bashed in on a daily basis for years at a time.

and for the record, I think part of the problem in today's society is that kids don't respect adults. Should they be beaten at 4 years? Not really no. lol but I do think we should be able to punish kids like the old days.

Go find a switch and be tough. At 4? That's a parents call and I doubt the punish fit the crime.

I agree SJ. AP did go waaaay overboard and there's a fine between discipline and abuse. My parents spanked me when I was a little shit and I deserved every one. I'll continue the tradition in the way I was brought up and no one is telling me otherwise.

Peterson flogged a 4 year old until he bled. He was apparently raised the same way. Sad cycle of violence that will probably repeat itself when this kid grows up and has children.

As many good athletes there are? It's a very small segment of athletes that are rogue.
