Yeah JR, it's 2014 and that's now call "brutality" and you're a criminal for doing it. After all, disciplining a child is the worst thing you can do to him.

Good thing my Dad isn't raising me now. He'd be in San Quentin.

No kidding...
If you get whooped with a switch, it hits your ass with the main part, then the end wraps around your leg, thigh or whatever is at the end of it, like a whip. Hence the reason for using it, it hurts like a sumbitch!!
That kid needs to straighten up, or he's going to have more bruises in the future..lol

I just saw pics of the boy...severe injuries to his legs and thighs. The boy said Peterson put leaves in his mouth while he was being hit. Peterson needs to have his ass thrown out of the NFL. Giving a kid a spanking is one thing, but beating a kid with a "tree branch" that results in defensive wounds to the hands, wound to the scrotum, multiple lacerations to the back, legs, thighs and buttocks is absolutely criminal. He is toast.

That's your logic, but im going to go with how its always been, and use my belt.

Whatever you say, but as someone who is very cautious about claiming parents are being abusive without good evidence for it, I can pretty firmly say that a belt is over the top. That belt constitutes a weapon, and against a small child receiving a punishment, you could easily go over overboard with your hands alone and actually hurt them. If you need a belt a belt to disipline your kid, then I suggest you re-assess why exactly you feel you require a weapon against a small child.

Have not seen the pics. AP had a huge mental lapse thats going to cost him. I wonder how the police got involved in the first place? I wonder if it was baby momma drama.

Yep, as more details emerge my guess is his best hope is probation and a 1 year suspension from the NFL. May even hear retirement talk.

Time for the media to publically go after AP neck and act like he killed someone

Adrian Peterson Indicted In "Child Abuse" Case [Updating]

I believe in spanking a child but this seems over the top and smacks of child abuse. No need at all to draw blood, shouldn't even come close to it. Children can cause you to become angry, but you can't let that anger turn into abuse.

I refuse to watch it. I have no desire to see the "moral outrage" from Costas and Olbermann. The very thought makes me want to puke. :mad2:

Unless this is a felony assault or a continuing problem with him, I'm thinking this will plead down to probation, suspended sentence and mandatory counselling.
Goodell will feel the need to salvage his image by giving Peterson a long suspension.

Obviously this is way, way past discipline. Poor kid.

I hate it when they make political commentary concerning sports. I wish these two jackasses would have their mouths duct taped.

that's bullshit.

Yes if you beat the living shit out of your kid you might have a point, but I firmly believe in spankings. I got it when I was a kid never thought I was abused. In fact I know a lot of kids that got a talkin' too & some of them are in prison now. I spanked my kids when needed & they came out just fine. (& show respect to people)
I mean you don't use spankings as an only form of discipline but to call it child abuse is part of the problem nowadays. Kids are smarter than people give them credit for. I love how so many people can live in the Rikki Lake world. (just tell them it is wrong & don't do that again)
