The $30MM figure is dramatically overstated. Payments are $6MM annually starting in 2016, severely diluting the present value of the number in today's dollars, especially considering the rate of inflation in baseball.

The keys to this deal will be whether prospects Jurickson and Castellanos can take advantage of the playing opportunity they are likely to get.

This is when the Rangers will need the money most. It will take Fielder's annual value from $24mm to $18mm over those last 5 seasons. It goes in line with what I said earlier about the Rangers holding onto those funds to offset Fielder's declining years.

Having sleep apena pretty bad, staying awake is my problem. I think it would be easier if I had even a shread of natural or organic interest in what I do for a living, but, such is my life.
