I knew it was stupid to sign him.
I didn't like the signing, but I accepted it... It gave them an excuse to get something for DT and now gives pt to Meyers.I admit I had hi hopes he would work out.
Wrong again said Carnzo
I did not like the signing. I will admit I enjoyed the aingst.
Part of me knew this was going to be a problem but I hoped anyways.
Does anything good come from Florida?

That'll change. If they have grounds to terminate the contract they won't need to pay the bonus or count it toward the cap. The intimidating texts, assuming it's true will be enough for grounds. If anything comes of the civil lawsuit there will be grounds too. I don't think there's immunity for actions happening before the signed contract.
They signed a nuisance not an intimidating rapist. If it turns out he was neither intimidating nor a rapist then they should be on the hook. If he's any degree of either they shouldn't be.We’ll see what happens on Monday...if they don’t make the payment a la Aaron Hernandez, and he doesn’t push back on that, then they can eventually void the guarantee and clear it off the cap. They could still make the payment and try to void it afterward, too, but that will likely be more drawn out. Or else they just pay it and live with the sunk cost of a bad idea gone worse.
Then I guess I don't get the salay cap if includes salary a team doesn't pay ever.I don’t disagree but the salary cap rules don’t care about that.
That's true, but it wasn't actually unconditionally guaranteed, but conditionally guaranteed with the condition being appropriate behavior. Since he seems to have violated the condition that salary should be gone from the cap. I'm not stating it will or won't. I'm stating it shouldn't count if the team never needs to pay it.The bonus was guaranteed upon signing, regardless of the date of the actual payment. That’s all that matters for cap calculations.
I'm not doubting you, just discussing it.As I stated before, that money may yet come off the cap at some point, but the cap hit doesn’t just magic out of existence just because AB was a bad dude. There’s a process
The Pats took a big cap hit when they released Hernandez. I don’t think the issue of payment of the bonus money they withheld has ever been resolved that I can recall. But it still counted on the cap ($7.5mm dead hit in 2014, the year after they released him)
