interesting stat. Sanchez 7 career starts, never has given up more than 1 run with a 1.07 era...remember a few years ago when Verlander dominated KC, Sanchez took over.

I was surprised Sanchez came out after seven. Only threw 90 pitches I think.

Tight one tonight.

I only got to hear the interference call on the radio on my way home. The Tigers announcers said it was the right call, but it wasn't as definitive as they said the ump made it seem.

Either way -- looks like the Tigers are getting the breaks right now. Nice way to start a 4 game series with your closest rival in the division by winning the 1st two on the road. AJax seems to be perking up as the leadoff hitter. Maybe Detroit will have a set lineup going forward, if he can continue to produce up there.

During a hot streak the breaks go your way. That is baseball. I did not feel it was, but he called before the ball was leaving Holaday's hand really. He was committed to the call before anything unfolded.

While it was the correct call, apparently it was called only because of contact. Did anyone else see contact? I didn't see any. Would be pretty irritating if the UMP still managed to screw up the call.

He should have been out for being on the plate regardless of contact.

Yep, as I implied, but it is irritating if there was no contact as that means the Ump's justification was, in fact, wrong. More of a complaint about what looks like lazy umpiring than anything to me.

I didn't hear anything official on the ruling Moose.(Listen to acting manager, Geno, weigh in on it, that's it.) Did Chad Fairchild say he only made the call on account of contact? Not sure why he would do that. Contact isn't necissarily for the ruling.

They showed a replay of the argument with the ump and KC's manager and the first thing out of the ump's mouth was -- He crossed home plate after the swing. I'm guessing that is why he made that call, as you couldn't hear anything else from the argument.

Either way -- it was a huge break for the Tigers.

Im meant to say "listened" not listen. Looks like I was barking orders when I re-read that. I was just trying to make fun of Lamont being fat.

Smitty, I get the hate for butler, I do. Guy clogs up the base paths, cant play a position, and doesnt hit for power, and now doesnt hit period. Hes a waste of a roster spot currently. I would hate it if the tigers had to deal with that. That being said, he did have some pretty ridiculous years with the bat.

ok, 1st VMart is having his career year behind Miggy...now JD behind Vmart and now behind miggy is having his career year..holy Miggy effect.

And everyone wonders why I thought Fielder had a bad year...should have put up 40-45 bombs and batted .320 or higher...about 20ish hrs less than he should have and what about .030 or .040 points less on average....almost the same as the moron Butler is doing...strange they both weigh about the the same as me.

No Miggy effect leading off the inning. Just one helluva great pickup by DD.

Way to be JD!

OKAY we can stop running on Perez. He has to be throwing over 50% or 60% against Tigers.

I do agree, when Miggy gets on base, it helps these guys out tremendously. VMart has hit the majority of his homeruns without Cabrera on base though. I am pretty shocked at the amount of homeruns he has hit though.

JD Martinez -- they said he overhauled his swing in the winter. He absolutely torched Triple A when we picked him up off waivers, hitting 10 homeruns in 17 games. He struggled when he was first brought up, but since he got hot, which seems like the last couple months now -- he has hit wherever they had him in the lineup.

I keep waiting for the bottom to fall out on JD, but his swing reminds me of Cabrera's (NO I am not saying he is anywhere in the same realm as Cabrera LOL) -- It is just the fact he hits the ball to all fields and has power to all fields. That is what surprised me about him the most.

I hope Detroit found lightning in a bottle with him. If he can put up numbers remotely near to what he has been, he lengthens our lineup, which is exactly what Detroit has needed. I'm not going to hold my breathe though.
