I got no problems signing Torii, it's not my money and the club isn't winning the Series this year and he was a fan favorite, i'm thinking this was about trying to bring a few out to Target Field more than anything. I'm just happy it's only a ONE year deal...

Yeah, the ring ain't gonna happen in Minny unless they shock us all and sign a couple of good starting pitchers. The offense in Minny is on the rise.

Torii had decent numbers at the plate last year, except OBP which was dreadful. And he is no better than an average defender these days.

Was he just awful the 2nd and 3rd times thru the order as a starter? It was a crazy shift from terrible to verrry good when he went to the pen.

Prolly the best reliever on the roster if he'd signed with us.

Hochevar was one of the more enigmatic starters I can remember here. He had some very obvious talent and it showed in some stretches, but the vast majority was just bad. A frequent complaint was his work vs Lefties in general and when men were on base. This is pretty much a guy who was a RP who stuck around being a SP because the rotation was perennially awful.

Just looked over his splits as a starter. He was all over the place year to year. A couple years he was just horrible in day games. Which is weird. There was a season of decent numbers against lefties, but that sure didn't outweigh the others.

Will he be slated for the long man role?

Agreed. The only way this makes sense is financially, the twins are gambling that hunter will put butts in the seats.

In regards to torii going to minnesota, IM sure money played an issue but maybe he just wanted to play on his former team? I know I miss quite a few people when I switch jobs. Familiarity with minnesota, the fans, the teammates, coaching etc probably factored in. Also, maybe no world series faves were interested. Thanks for the time in det torii!

Cespedes will cost detroit a shit ton. I wouldnt mind masterson. I dont think the tigers will be signing miller. DD hasnt ever shown much interest in splashing money on pen relief unless its a closer. I think belisario may be more likely.

I would love to play for the Cubs, I would want to be a part of winning a Championship for Cubs fans! IMO who would wanna play for the Red Sox?
