It really is. You look at what the Tigers THOUGHT they had in the bullpen vs. what they got in production...

Bruce Rondon: Future closer projected to be an 8th inning guy this year. Injured in ST, doesn't play.
Joe Nathan: Premiere closer. Has his highest walk rate ever, worst season ever.
Joaquim Soria: Pitching very well for an otherwise crappy Texas team. Absolutely blows during his time with the Tigers.
Joel Hanrahan: Expected to help in the second half. Suffers setbacks and never pitches.

Swing and a miss on all four. Rag on Dombrowski all you want, but it's not like he didn't TRY.

In all fairness, nobody should've been expecting anything from Hanrahan, who's had basically one 'good' season in his career.

Also to be fair you can cross rondon off of that list. No one should have been expecting results from a rookie anyhow. Just about everyone (yourself included I believe, Howie) knew that dave had seriously shortchanged the tigers pen heading into the season. There was nobody between the starting pitcher and nathan. The fister trade only exacerbated the situation by removing smyly from the pen. Its two years in a row now that dave has shortchanged the pen heading into the season. After the loss to the red sox with the pen being the main reason they lost, there should have been more dedication to improve it. I believe dave is a good GM, but not solidifying the pen has been one of his major mistakes.

Thanks, you may now celebrate. Ill admit I hated the twins back in the day and mrhockey was definitely a huge reason on cbs. I also enjoyed the game where morneau got hit in the nose with the ball and bled everywhere. I dont mind them now, they have some great, young talent.

You weren't even on the smack talk thread on CBS lol

lol its more to get a rise out of Doug ha. I do think they could decline rapidly here quick though if something isn't done.

Due to Buxton and Sano basically having lost years I still think 2016 is more realistic now rather than 15' but I think big strides are possible.

As I have said many times and as you said the lineup could potentially be lethal. This isn't homerism or an exaggeration either. You saw some of its damage this year(no sano or buxton) and Arica/Vargas havn't even gotten disciplined yet. If that happen dear lord. And to think the whole lineup will be completely home grown. That would be unheard of.

Pitching man we'll see. Berrios looks to be flat out electric so hopefully he gets up next year. We will see with Stewart. Still paying Pelfrey 6 mil

Next year could be ok though. Hughes should be good, Nolasco can't be worse then hopefully Gibson gets consistent, May puts his talent to use and Meyer comes up and succeeds. Still a shit ton of ?'s but atleast its a talented pitching staff for once.

soooo what you are saying. you will drink the Twins koolaid again next year.

Wild finish with more points this year even playing in the more difficult west than the Wings do playing in the much easier east, mark it in pen baby!

Not even just in the tougher conference but the most stacked division in sports. 5 playoff teams from the division again most likely.

Doug is just jealous because he knows the Wings are an after thought and the Wild are deeeeeeeeeeeeeep outside of goalie.

I could handle the AL central doing what the NL Central did this year. It was cool watching it unfold. Hell this season was crazy enough with just KC an Detroit. Sweet season watching 3or 4 all season like that. With the Tigers coming out on top of course...

Hey Doug, is the idiot who shined a laser pointer at Bills players and then bragged on twitter to get caught a relative of yours?

I hope so, I'd hate to think stupid just rules Detroit. Better to quarantine it to a single family.

Nice win for the Wings tonight!

I wonder how many times the Wild had a 5 spot on the board after 2 periods last year...
