Won't bother me that much if he leaves. Id much rather see them extend Price after this season.

What doesn't need to happen is Max leave and Price go into the season without an extension.

I agree. Price is a better pitcher than max.

The Tigers will tender Max and not try to resign him. The draft picks and using the cash to resign Price is a smart move. Price eats more innings and is left handed. The reality of the situation is Detroit is not New York or LA. They can't afford to give out 100 + million dollar contracts. It's a shame but thats life in the AL Central.

As for trading Max last year it all depended on what Detroit could have gotten. Robbie Ray and a bunch of journeymen....no. Will Meyers ....yes.

Max's value I believe would have brought in more than fister. Im not sure how many years fister has on his contract though as that can make a difference. The fister trade was stupid, so yeah I would have been pissed if they traded max for a bunch of trash.

scherzer might be gone. but trade him? should have> you kidding???
he is a big reason we are going to coast to another ALCS and then win it all in the world series.
isn't 1 ring worth holding him his last year????

I said much the same thing back in March -- if Scherzer goes bonkers in his contract year and gets the Tigers to a WS title, I could care less if he comes back. Anything less, and 20/20 hindsight will tell you the Tigers should have traded him when his value was at its peak.

The odds of anything less are much higher than the odds of winning a world series even with the tigers being legitimate contenders. So, yeah it was a mistake, a huge gamble that probably will end up hurting the tigers. On top of that, why trade fister then, if the mindset is winning it all this year. I cant wrap my head around that logic.

Willingham's retiring after the season ends. :( Guess that's to be expected with his age (turns 36 in February) and injuries. Pretty underrated player too.

WC's have won 4 or 5 WS since they have been around, not bad odds. IF we end up a WC.

Yeah the WC is a crapshoot though. Your season can be done by Tuesday/Wednesday or you advance and make it to the WS.

The main thing for those WC teams is to advance out of that 1 game series. After that anything can happen as long as you have good pitching & timely hitting

Quick question for you guys. If Detroit/KC end up tie, do they play a 1 game playoffs for division title or does it get rewarded to Detroit for winning the season series?
