AL East combined record- 294-282
AL Central combined record- 287-285
AL West combined record- 289- 282

The AL East is the best division in the AL based on record and the only division in baseball better is the NL central as their combined record is 294-280

Theres not one team in the east that scares me while the athletics, tigers, angels, and mariners could all make some noise in the playoffs. I dont see a team from the east capable of that.

So you base "best divisions" based solely on the best team in that division? Do the other teams in the divisions not count or something? Doesn't it make more sense to take all of the teams into account when ranking divisions.

Whatever you may "feel," the AL East has a better collective winning percentage than the AL Central.

Theres not one starting pitcher on any one of those teams that I would rate as anything more than "good". Tanaka is awesome, but Im not sure if hes playing again this season, so I cannot count him. I dont see any of those teams being a realistic threat with that kind of rotation compared to detroit and oakland. The yankees were so bad they had o trade the majority of their position players. Im not saying the central is awesome, but it doesnt take much to be better than the east.

Who is a majority of their position players? They traded Solarte and Kelly Johnson.....What the hell are you talking about? And Solarte got demoted a few weeks before anyway before coming back due to an injury

Clearly you think a division is better if four teams are average or good while I like a divison to be better based on the fact one or two teams in the division have a legitimate shot of going to the world series. Theres no way that any team in the east makes it out of the first round. Yeah, stranger things have happened and thats why the game is played but I dont see it.

Somewhat. Thats fine, but at the end of the day Ill take the two divisions that have great teams. If you and baller want to hang your hat on that go for it.

Traded for, not traded.

That doesn't mean anything. A 5 game series in October doesn't mean that over an entire 162 game season that the AL East was not better than the AL Central.

All it would mean is the Central best is better than AL East best which really doesn't prove anything in terms of better division as all it shows is that your best team was better than our best team and I don't think anyone is disputing that. I don't see anyone on here saying the O's would beat Detroit in a series.

For whatever it's worth, Cleveland has a positive run differential, New York has a negative run differential. I would take New York's current roster over Cleveland's right now though.

What position players did we trade for that would make up majority of the roster? We traded for Headley, Drew, and Prado.

3 of 9 is not majority.

lol, and "fine" trades they were, think the team BA went down after those guys showed up and that was hard to do with Beltran, Soriano, Tex, McCann, Jetes and Roberts leading the way.

Comparing Apples to Oranges

Once again -- the AL Central has a winning record against the AL East. It isn't a big margin, as they are 65-60, but only one team in the AL Central has a losing record against the East and they are 13-15. The other 4 have winning records at this point in the season, though all four teams are either 1 or 2 games over .500.

Basically it is saying the divisions are no different than one another. The AL West is, by far, the best division and it isn't even close. They have not only the team with the best record in baseball, but the team with the 2nd best record in baseball in their division.

As far as saying the AL anything is better than the NL anything -- it is pointless. It is a completely different league where they are playing completely different teams. Talk about comparing Apples to Oranges.

Ausmus..in over his head. Nathan almost blew last nights game. threw 27 pitches.
so Ausmus takes out Scherzer today who was pitching great..only 105 pitches. puts in Nathan. Nathan blows another game on his way to throwing 28 pitchings.

Ausmus is a idiot. in over his head. when Nathan doesn't have it...why does he let him go so long??????

shame. Scherzer pitched so good. to be robbed of a win by Nathan. and AUSMUS!!!

how many times does Nathan get to blow games??? 5? 10? before they figure out he hasn't got it any more.... only the Tigers would still be sending him out

but you are right. Tigers have to cut him. You know the team doesn't want him back on the mound. its clear to even a guy like Da Bums..Nathan hasn't got it any more.

maybe only thing that saves him from getting released is..Soria is hurt now..just walking to the mound...WTF
