Oh boy -- here comes Nathan. And he gives up a single to Bautista to start the 9th. If he blows this game -- I REALLY hope they do something about the closer situation. (though he has been really good lately).

WOW -- that ball looked like it was hit a lot further than it went when it left the bat. 1 down. 2 more Joe. Detroit needs to right the ship.

miss the play offs??? that's the yankee way of thinking.

3 of the last 4 years in the ALCS.. tigers don't just think of making the play offs.....we think of the ring!

And has yet to do it. The Tigers are the modern day Buffalo Bills

This tigers series is a win-win for the royals. Either they gain ground/separation from the Jays or they gain ground on Detroit

dam. forgot to set my line up again. Left Verlander on the bench. dam dam.
you know uts was a easy night for him. dam dam.

if I didn't forget to set my line ups...I might be leading that yahoo league!! word

If verlander is riding your bench because you "forget to set your lineups" that should have improved your roto team this year as JV would be killing your ERA. So if your team is that awful with JV riding your bench, I cant imagine, I would probably "forget to set my lineup" as well. Excuses are for losers.

PH>DH>Starter is the general rule of thumb in terms of difficulty.

Based on what? Just curious. I get that it sucks to come off the bench cold to hit but righties usually come in to face lefties etc, that is a huge advantage.

wow, Sanchez falling in line with the rest of the staff and getting that era to climb. Didn't realize Price's era was so high either.

is really Porcello the "ace" of the tigers now?

No price is the ace. Watching him pitch in tampa, he was definitely prone to allowing a HR or one to two runs early then shutting the team down for the next eight innings, racking up tons of strike outs, picking up quality starts and losing because of lack of run support. I would never pick rick as ace of the tigers I dont think.

Price actually reminds me of JV of a few years ago. Likes to fuck up early in games, pitches consistently deep into games, gets better as the game wears on and piles up alot of strikeouts.m

The Yankees are 12-10 against the Central and they are the only team in the AL East with a winning record against the AL Central.. Not sure if that can be considered "feasting".:pound:

The al east is the worst division in the american league, so not sure what the hell hes talking about. The rotation isnt intimidating anyone, the team was so mediocre they had to replace half of their position players at the deadline. When brandon mccarthy is an upgrade to your rotation, you know you suck. How pissed would tigs fans be if we traded for him.

They (being the stat community) compared it to their numbers as a starter I believe, and generally, they are lower relative of platoon splits (if X hits 300 vs RHP and hits 250 vs LHP, he may hit 270 vs RHP and 220 vs LHP as a Pinch hitter). The impact calculus, in theory, for the manager is to determine if that PH slope is greater than the questionable hitter being PH for. If we are talking about a guy who hits 300 vs LHP and 200 vs RHP, but is pinch hitting, I would say it is probable it is beneficial.

At least, that is the current thought process surrounding Pinch Hitting from what I have read. No doubt it shouldn't stop managers from pinch hitting anytime soon, but it is something to be aware of.

Based on what? Having 3 teams with 60+ wins? And the Rays aren't bad either. The only bad team is the Sox.

AL East is 2nd best division in the AL and 3rd best in baseball

And the tigers just got manhandled against that team and should've been swept.....How embarrassing

Not sure how you come to that conclusion, considering the collective win percentage of the AL East is better than that of the AL Central.

Theres not one starting pitcher on any one of those teams that I would rate as anything more than "good". Tanaka is awesome, but Im not sure if hes playing again this season, so I cannot count him. I dont see any of those teams being a realistic threat with that kind of rotation compared to detroit and oakland. The yankees were so bad they had o trade the majority of their position players. Im not saying the central is awesome, but it doesnt take much to be better than the east.

Theres not one team in the east that scares me while the athletics, tigers, angels, and mariners could all make some noise in the playoffs. I dont see a team from the east capable of that.
