As I was saying -- Detroit has a huge advantage with their starting rotation when the playoffs come around. Only problem is -- their bullpen looks like the Brian Cashman signed them -- all aging stars, whose best years are behind them (Soria, Nathan, Jim Johnson, Joel Hanrahan, Joba Chamberlain). It is a whose who of bullpen arms. Unfortunately for Detroit -- these guys are shells of their former selfs, with the exception of Chamberlain, who has actually done well for Detroit.

Have the Tigers won the Series yet? We should start talking about 2015 no?

He is our version of entertainment on this board.

Exactly. You don't argue with Doug -- you just sit back, read, laugh and enjoy.

They need to worry about getting to the playoffs first. With the bullpen doing their best to give away games -- I don't think it matters if they even get to the playoffs, unless their starters are going to go 9 innings every game.

I was talking with my buddy today and neither one of us could figure out why our starters all throw mid 90's, while our "closer" is topping out at 93 if he overthrows the ball, but mostly sits in the 90-91 range. Same with Soria.

Maybe they would have been better off addressing other actual needs rather than adding to an already strong rotation.

So was at the Royals/Giants game tonight, haven't been in weeks to a game and wtf there were twice as many fans. almost annoyed I didn't have open seats to each side of me...but I moved over 1 spot and accomplished my goal.

saw Joba got the Tigers loss and thought "The only semi reliable guy in the pen, just lost, holy crap, the bullpen is just jinxed, Soria comes over and blows a couple in like 3 outings, about as many as he had all season. If I was a RP, I would avoid that place like pitcher avoid going to Colorado, career ending"

I love pulling the string on the talking toy...wind him up let him go. I will say BK gets his goat as good as Bums does.

to add to what Moose said... "FREE" entertainment at that.

Could not agree more. I love Price going forward...

Today was prime example Price does nothing for you unless they all throw complete games.

Max had a awesome game stolen away by a area that needed more attention than just Soria.

To quote GNR...."Knock, knock, knockin on Dougie's door, ye'ah, ye'ah, ye'ah, yeah, ya,ya,ya yeah"

Your prediction of 2.5 back is still good for next week, right Doug?

You sell a set of tracks on I-tunes.

Oh where oh where can my Dougie be? The Royals are about to the lead away from me...

I have no respect for the Tigers blowpen...

If I were the Tigers -- whatever Starting pitcher doesn't make the starting rotation, if they make the playoffs -- that guy is now our closer. I'll take Porcello, Sanchez or Verlander pitching the 9th over any guy we can throw out there now.

Hell -- I would use any of those three to come in for the 8th and 9th innings. Just disgusting to watch our starters pitch great and our bullpen just give it away.

Normally I would agree wholeheartedly. Sad part is -- Detroit has basically an entire different back end of the bullpen from last year. We didn't have a closer -- we went out and signed Joe Nathan. We didn't have a guy to pitch the 7th and we signed Joba Chamberlain, who actually ended up being our 8th inning guy. Nathan was struggling, so we traded away two of our top prospects to get Soria and he has been terrible with Detroit after pitching great for Texas.

They have just had brutal luck in the pitchers they have signed or traded for and they don't have a lot of arms in the minor league out of the bullpen.

Forgot to add they also got Ian Krol for the bullpen in the trade with Washington. So it isn't as if they haven't addressed it. Nathan was coming off a monster season. Soria was having a great season. Chamberlain is solid in the 7th or 8th, but he isn't a closer. Krol was solid for a month or so -- then completely fell apart.
