Tigers have gotten a free pass to the WS for 4-6 years, they tend not to use it. Just not enough HEART from Verlander/Miggy...maybe someone hungry like Price/Kinsler will show them what HEART is. (not like Fielder hungry or dougie steak in a box hungry)

I haven't either. I think he can still be good, but it seems pretty apparent it's a bit more than "just a rough stretch" going on right now. And to say he's still the best pitcher in baseball is completely delusional.

This 2 run performance (against a Rockies team that can't hit on the road and is without Tulowitzki, nonetheless) lowers his ERA to a sparkling 4.66 ERA, higher than notable aces such as John Danks, Jarred Cosart and Jeremy Guthrie.

They were missing cargo as well, and yes that is one awful hitting team away from home. Talk to me when JV is dominant doug, because he hasnt been at all. Regular season ERA is very important as is post season. While JVs postseason was much better than his regular season last year, he still hasnt been impressive in the postseason. David price is at the moment by far the best pitcher on the tigers no question.

this road trip is long. Tigers need to win a few on it. The starting pitching looks sharp. Price will look good in that Tiger uni on the mound at yankee stadium

Because the tigers have a better shot at winning the world series running JV, anibal, price, and max out every fourth game. They also need help in the pen and I for one think rick will have more success in pen than JV.

Velocity usually drops as pitchers get older, it tends to peak in their early/mid 20's.

The workload's probably a factor as well. I think Verlander has the most pitches thrown of any starter since his rookie year. He led the league from 2011-13. Only Dan Haren had more pitches thrown in 2010, and that was by 4 pitches (and keep in mind Haren made 35 starts, Verlander made 33).

I think it just shows how they are just all-in right now. Milone is effectively irrelevant in their roster right now as it is now or never for the A's to win a WS with their budget/barren farm- and they have 5 excellent starters and a lockdown pen.

This isn't about waiting long term, it is now or never- all in for the A's. Every game counts too with the Angels breathing down the A's necks in the division. The A's can't be too thrilled about a 1 and done prospect in an All or nothing season as their window starts to close.

The M's don't look that scary. but in a WC game with Felix, is there a more intimidating team? That's what the A's desperately want to avoid. The Yankees with Tanaka being another nightmare possibility. Point being is the A's will do anything for that next win, even if it is trading a now redundant starter for a guy who in reality is just on a hot streak and is getting on base.

At least, that is my thought on the topic. The A's had their reasons for that trade. The Twins should be very happy though for sure.
