Valencia for Kratz and Hendricks?


I hate you, Moore. Go away.

Its not as bad as I first saw it, was panick stricken at first leaving Moose alone. For KC to get anything for Valencia is a gift. Couldn't stand watching the back up catcher, Kratz is an upgrade. Hendricks, who knows, if he amounts to anything, great if he does, who cares if he doesn't. Bringing up Colon though was the icer, Colon can back up all 3 infield spots and still hit for Moose against lefties and having a backup SS is definately needed in the dog days of August.

For them to bring up Colon it was going to be at the expense of Valencia or Ibanez, Ibanez at least has some veteran experience of how to maybe get in Moose, Butler and Hosmer's heads for the final push. So I would have rather gave up Valencia to get Colon.

love adding Frasor but need to release Downs ASAP, he is a ticking timebomb and is going to cost us 3 games before they let him go, unless they mistaking keep him as our version of "Phil Coke"

don't get me wrong, I like Valencia but I like Colon/Ibanez over Colon/Valencia...we wouldn't obviously gotten a thing for Ibanez. This team needs a few veterans on it, they haven't figured it out as an entire youth team. Kratz, Infante, Ibanez better use their professionalizm to toughen up this team mentally hitting like Shields has the pitching and stop the eratic streaks. Its the most "veterans" the royals have had on offense in a long while, its better than going with what hasn't worked.

Would be more useful as a coach than a player at this point. Wasn't this the thing Shields and co were traded for? Or was that a pointless trade as well? (I know my opinions on that already)

I agree but its not about the numbers for them, Ibanez and Kratz? will not get numbers, I don't care what they hit as long as they are a calming effect on the kids and get them to relax and just play. Thats where I want to see the numbers come from.

The royals have been better and definately better pitching since that trade and just keeping Myers and having no pitching would have been exactly like when Beltran, Dye, Damon and Sweeney were in KC and we just would have lost them all too. Now that we have Vargas, Duffy, Ventura ready to go for next season, he was able to build up a staff. Binford, Manea, Almonte, etc are another 2 years closer now too.

I would love for KC to trade Holland, let Davis close or vise versa for Van Slyke that would seal that the myers/shields trade was definately worth it. Don't think he is going to trade Shields, but wish he would, for a power bat, not just get a sup 1st rounder.

yes, definate man crush on him, so a bit biased.

The guy hit great in the minors and has 8 or 9 HRs in 150 abs, what comes out to 32 hr in 600 abs, he is highly cost controlled and team controlled. He is Adam Dunn sized and he would be a legit power threat. He also is a bloodline player so been around the majors his whole life with dad Andy. Like Dee Gordon, Bonds, Griffey JR, Eric Young Jr, etc, so the athletizm is there.

Not sure what you could get for Holland or Davis who has actually put up some numbers in the majors and had his success in the minors but interested to see a better canidate.
