Royals couldn't even break 3 million in attendance the year after a WS run.. and during a second trip... That says a ton about the size of the market there...
You have to give a shit about attendance.. because without it.. you can't afford a large payroll. Literally everything went right for the Royals... They drafted well.. Had no major injuries to their core players... and had low cost free agent signings play well above their past results... Attendance and larger TV viewership allows you to be able to make a few mistakes and pay your way out of it... Without that extra money.. even one thing goes wrong and its over.. its why small market teams rarely compete til the end.who cares about attendance, its not like they black out games anymore...too many damn channels
Look at the payroll jump before 2006 Bums.. it not only coinsides with the WS run.. but the attendance jumped massively after they invested in Pudge and Ordonez.to help you out Vice..
Tigers make 1st WS in 20 years, attendance only went up 450k the following season
Royals make 1st WS in 30 years, attendance went up 700k the following season
and that's will a smaller market like you said,
You can look at the Braves as well they went up 930k
The tigers jumped the least
You have to admit bums.. there are so many bandwagon fans running around KC right now with crispy new hats and jerseys... that were not interested at all in the Royals 2 years ago... and won't be interested in them again 2 years from now... KC didn't give a shit about baseball for decades.. this run might energize the area for a little while.. but the place isn't turning into yankee stadium after 1 world series win.

The biggest reason for Detroit's adding of attendance was the addition of big name free agents in Pudge and Ordonez... that led to better teams down the road.. but pre Pudge.. the attendance in det was 1.3 mil (2003)... after signing pudge it was 1.9 mil (2004)... and they didn't even make the playoffs until 2006.
The Tigers 2004 season was not even close to a "winning" season... 72 wins isn't going to get people excited... what got people excited was the signing of Pudge.. and the owner investing in the team.it also went up because they didn't lose 119 games in 2004, winning changes attendance
The royals attendance numbers had to jump after the first world series appearance... for christ sakes.. they were on par with the marlins in 2013. The fact that it only jumped to 2.7 mil is sad actually.. The year after the Tigers 2006 WS appearance.. they had well over 3 million in attendance and the 2007 team was not even a playoff team.

The Tigers will out draw the Royals again this year too.. Guaranteed. I bet your attendance doesn't grow at all this year from last.2.7 from 1.9 what over 40 percent increase, its higher than the Tigers 20 percent increase
