Then why'd you say so much money would be coming off the books after 2017, when it clearly won't?
30 mil is coming off the books... that is a HUGE amount... idiot.

You rate it a rainbow because you clearly didn't know why he signed for league min?

When you consider the fact that the payroll you're using for 2018 only fills about a quarter of a 25-man roster (7 players), it's not a lot at all.

No, I rated it a rainbow just because I wanted to see you piss and whine about it.

You hand out bullshits and rainbows all the time, but you pee yourself when someone does it to you.

That amuses me.

It doesn't matter.. the average 25 man roster has numerous players that are pre arb that make 500k.. if you even have 5 guys... which would be low... in this situation... that is 5 guys for only 2.5mil... Then you take the arb level players that are making only a few mil a season... that makes up the majority of your roster when you combined the two... most MLB teams payrolls are top heavy.. you need to read a little more.

Most teams have 5-8 high priced guys and fill the rest of the team with arbitration level or pre arb players..... this isn't a secret.. look it up..

The Tigers have plenty of time to build their farm back up and off set their higher paid players with low cost pitching from their farm.. They have already started this process... After 2017.. the only high priced pitching the Tigers will have on their roster is Verlander and Zimmerman... Norris will still be pre arb making 500k. So will Fulmer.

i think its pretty un-debatable that over the next couple years all those long term contracts the Tigers have signed are going to start choking the life out of the team. While the actual ages of the rosters are not something i know off the top of my head- i think its pretty clear that the tigers most important guys- are their oldest guys---- and guys like Vmart, Cabrera, Verlander, Kinsler, Sanchez who make a combined 105 million- are all on the down side of their careers.

not too mention- that Zimmermans and Uptons contracts- while they start at their age 28 seasons- go for al ong time- well into their declines....and giving a pitcher a ton of money to go from the NL to the AL has obvious risks.

It really isn't.. if you look at them.. they are staggered and are slowing coming off the books. By 2018.. they will only have a few big contracts left. After that.. Its only Miggy, Verlander, and Zimmerman. They really are not in as bad of shape as you think... a small market team like KC is in worse shape payroll wise than the Tigers.

well- its not like Detroit is a "big market team" as much as it has an owner willing to spend- an owner that has looked like he has been on deaths door for a while now. Will an owner that has a lot more time before his lights go out continue to spend at that level? I dont know the answer to that.

Future payroll really isn't a concern in detroit.. the owner is willing to spend... he is making boat loads of money outside of baseball off the tigers through little caesars and other food ventures... plus he makes ass loads of money off the redwings. The last thing they are going to do is stop spending when all their businesses marketing is built around the Tigers and Redwings being a draw.

Detroit is a top 10 market... Michigan's TV market is one of the 6 largest in pro sports...

as for cost controlled cheap talent- yes Detroit has Norris....Iglesias...and im not sure when JD Mart. is eligible for free agency but i think it would be at least a couple years....other than that... i fail to see any near-high-end cost controlled young talent. Is Castellanos any good? Can Rondon ever get his head on straight?
