Astro's just signed Doug Fister for 1 yr 7 mil.... I am sorry.. but that would have been much smarter than Pelfrey... or Kennedy for that matter.

im not worried about miggy at all. the guy is going to probably lead the league in BA and OBP again this year... the only remote concern i have is about his power... but its pretty obvious that was connected to the hamstring injury. Miggy will be miggy. If V-mart is fully healthy, the Tigers do make a good case for #1 or #2. But I agree with the writer's "creaky" comment regarding Victor and Miggy.
Vmart even having a season half of what he did in 2014 would make the Tigers offense studly.
All I want from Vmart is .280 15 HR 80 rbi..... I think he can do that. Anything above that is gravy to me.
castellanos - .290 ba .320 obp 20 hr 80 rbi
yeah.. i got a little crazy there.. but i think he is going to break out soon. When it all comes together he is going to be a .300 hitter with 20+ HR. Castellanos isn't going to even turn 24 until March 4th... He is young as shit still and isn't even fully matured into his body yet.. let alone a finished product at the plate.I'd blow a wad if Castellanos had those numbers. My more modest hopes for him are: .270 BA, 2 or 3 more home runs than last year, fewer strikeouts, and hit RH pitchers better. His splits were as bad as V-mart's, for different reasons, of course: .230 vs. RHPs, .351 vs. LHPs.
It would also be nice if Nick's fielding improved to at least "mediocre".

Castellanos isn't as bad of a fielder as people want to say he is. I think he will probably eventually end up at first base down the road. His range isn't great... but his defense isn't going to be the difference of the Tigers winning or losing. There's no question that he's learned some things at the MLB level that many kids learn in the minors. He already hits the ball to all fields, which is tough to teach. When he gets more comfortable recognizing and turning on inside pitches, that's when you'll see 20+ HR seasons. I can't count the inside-corner pitches the last two seasons that he punched into right field.
And then the organization tried to make him an outfielder when they signed Prince Fielder to the long contract and it appeared Miggy would be a fixture at 3B. Nick was never gonna be a superb defender at third, but that stunted his growth some.
i wouldn't be surprised to see Upton have a .300 ba season either seeing as he is going to see a ton of fastballs and he is a great fastball hitter.
Any hitter than can square up a fastball is going to hit well in front of miggy... especially if the leadoff hitter gets on base. This lineup may be the best the Tigers have put together in a long long time.37-year old Torii Hunter hit over .300 batting in the 2-hole in front of Miggy, and Upton is a better hitter than Torii.
How many posts by famed business success, MiamiVice, in the last two days? How many by dougplayer?
It is amazing how a super rich business mogul can spend day after day glued to this Sportshoopla site. I guess that is how the super successful businessmen do it now! But it is obvious - even to those of us who don't have Vice's business chops....that spending your days/night here will continue to draw in money at an enormous rate. LMAO
