Just remember, in front of every silver lining is a very dark cloud. Full of hail, and lightning, and the wrath of God kind of things.
And a good smiting.

Always a fan of a righteous smiting.

That's silly. Moore is a lock.

The rotation to begin the season will be: Bum, JC, Moore, Poopturd, Cain
Here's where @MarcoPolo may come in. What I don't understand is the option on Matt Moore's contract for 2017. If he isn't even eligible for free agency until after the 2017 season, why would there be an option on his contract for next year? Is it so he can be sent through arbitration instead? I assume that would be what would happen if the Giants were to decline that club option. I doubt that they do this but what are the chances if he poops the bed his final two starts?

Marco can confirm, but I believe Moore was called up in 2011. Absent a contract, he'd have been minimum salary in 12, 13, 14; arb eligable 15, 16, 17. He signed a 5/14 contract for the 12-16 seasons, and 3 options for 17-19. in 2017, if the Giants didn't pick up his 7MM option, he would indeed be eligible for arbitration. If they decline either of the 2018 (9MM) or 2019 (10M) options, he'd be a FA.

All that said, I cannot imagine that the Giants won't pick up his option, irrespective of his last two starts. He's a middle of the rotation arm, lefty, and cost controlled for the next three years. He's a lock to be in the 2017 rotation, barring injury.
