Yeah. This season has been strange. Even with all the injuries, we've been in the hunt. But it seems like every time the Giants play well for a time, and the Dogs wither, and the Giants get within a game or two, suddenly the Giants take a dive and the Dogs begin playing well. Frustrating as a fan, and I am sure for the players as well.

Tonight marks the first time the Giants have gained any ground since August 21st. The Giants have only gone 6-13 in that time, but the Dodgers won every single time the Giants won.

He had some great games last year, don't forget. He had a no-no going into the 9th I think.

Absolutely fantastic tonight though. AND Boch has come to his senses of leaving him in too long. Great night all around. Even EA did well.

Dylan plays 3B?
I was referencing him being a folk playing, commie pinko, hippie :) and someone you might not appreciate. My apologies if that was an incorrect assumption. Yes, yes, when you assume...

Actually, I play some guitar, and I like some of his stuff. He's not so outspoken politically anymore, maybe once long ago as a fad. I have little problem, in retrospect, with the artists who spoke out against the Vietnam War. Our involvement there was started under false pretenses, 58,000 of our finest young men were killed, many more were wounded and scarred physically and emotionally, and hundreds of billions of dollars were wasted, probably trillions in today's terms. And let not history forget, it was all done by a Democrat president, with large Democrat majorities in both the House and the Senate. There is no getting around that incontrovertible fact. They're the reason I don't appreciate "commie pinkos", not Bob Dylan. Bob Dylan didn't get 58,000 of our soldiers killed.

Now, barring a miracle, that the Giants are out of the race, I hate seeing Byrd up there. I just keep imagining his $8M going down the drain this offseason.

I hardly think it'd be "down the drain." He'll be a very useful platoon-mate with Seaweed next year.

If the Giants told him that he was going to be a platoon player next year (unless injuries), could Byrd opt out of the vested contract and try and be a starter elsewhere?

Yes; it's his option and once it vests he can decline or accept. He won't decline, as he's not going to get $8MM anywhere else.

$8M is a lot for a part-time player. I would like to see him back, but not at that price. I mean, maybe it won't effect the Giants plans at all, and they stay course with whatever their plan is. In that case, then it's not my money so who cares?
