They are, indeed. They lead the Redlegs by 4 games, and trail the Dogs by 3.5 games.

The Padres' problem is that they are an outstanding 40-24 at home, but only 26-26 on the road. Giants are 12 games over .500 on the road, and have played 8 more games on the road than the Padres.
