Is it finally the night for a W?
Reds just won another game against the Dodgers tonight by a score of 3-1.

Not sure there is a HUGE difference between prospect quality of 7 and 12. Might as well enjoy today if possible. We gotta keep.... Movin on up in the old Draft.........
I think Trout was the 24th pick the year he was drafted. Not sure there is a HUGE difference between prospect quality of 7 and 12. Might as well enjoy today if possible.
That said, I ain’t crying after losses anymore. I am more interested in the dogs w/l record from here out.

62nd round. He wouldn't even get drafted in 21st century drafts. But while stories like his are noteworthy, I do wonder how much of an exception he is. I too would like to know how big of a difference it makes to draft earlier in the draft versus later.I haven't researched this but I have a hunch baseball drafts are by far the biggest crapshoot in terms of where the good players get drafted. Wasn't Mike Piazza drafted in like the 23rd round as a favor to his uncle Tommy Lasorda? In basketball it's probably the least random.
Average WAR for a player picked 7th is 10. Average WAR for a played picked 12th is 9.2. However, it should be noted that 70% of guys picked 7th have made the big leagues while 61% of guys picked 12th made the big leagues. Not sure there is a HUGE difference between prospect quality of 7 and 12. Might as well enjoy today if possible.

In basketball that's true except for the Clippers who until that power forward they drafted about 6 or so years ago they had the 1st pick a couple of times where there were no sure thing 1st pick and when they had top 2 to 5 the sure things were already gone when they drafted. But of what we know about how that charlatan that owned the team he didn't deserve to ruin careers on that pathetically run team by that horrible owner.
I do wonder how differently baseball and basketball drafts would look if teams didn't try for the cheap picks. I get a feeling it would be less of a crapshoot. In basketball that's true except for the Clippers who until that power forward they drafted about 6 or so years ago they had the 1st pick a couple of times where there were no sure thing 1st pick and when they had top 2 to 5 the sure things were already gone when they drafted. Tell us how you really feel about the Clips under Sterling....
