You could look at 3 different sets in practice. Don't be afraid to look at your good SS at 3rd. A couple of things there. If he is really good and has good instincts, it would allow you to play Dash at SS. The value of having Dash at SS instead of 3rd is that he can communicate with your new 2nd baseman on every play and tell him what to do in each situation. The kid will know where he's going with the baseball, so if he can handle the spot physically, you're all setThat's a great point... I don't know if he's better at 3rd or 2nd yet... He's the best at any spot outside of SS that I got... My SS's instincts and first step are amazing... So the question to you is if his play at 3rd and 2nd are at least equal should I move him to 3rd, because it is an upgrade...? But I need to make sure he's still the best he can be moving to 3rd, taking your point... Great thing to think about...
UK wake yer ass up and pick!

You bet. Man, if you're SS is gone 2 week, that's not a dilemma, that's perfect. He will be even better after 2 weeks of camp, and you've got 2 weeks to settle you're IF. Yall may already do this, but I would suggest working at several stations the entire practice time. When I first started coaching(sadly, a longgggg time ago), I would just line all the boys up at their positions and hit them balls for two hours and then go hit a round each. Boring to tears, and all the boys are getting minimal reps. If you have 12 players, I would put 3 kids at SS throwing to 1st, 3 kids in CF hitting a cutoff, and 4 kids hitting. Then rotate them after they each got 25 reps. Then take 3 to 2nd/SS and rotate them between the 2 positions doing nothing but rolling them balls(rolling better than hitting in drills, even in HS), letting them work on turning two throwing to 1st, while 4 boys work on backing each other up in the OF and working on where they hit their cuttoff's and where they go on 1st and third to line up as backup, and let the other 4 go hit. Then do the same thing with stations on 1st and 3rd situations, IF in, etc. In two weeks, with All Star talented kids, you'll have several kids that can play multiple spots, and then you get your SS back tooGonna check that out too... SS has just as good an arm as Dash, he's going to be gone for the next 2 weeks at a baseball camp though so that furthers the dilemma... Which is also why I don't want to move too many things because they do have an understanding as is so when he comes back everything will be the same... We start practice again tomorrow so I'll watch Dash and see if he struggles any with a group setting... A lot to thinking about, thanks for the help... I'll keep you posted and probably ask for more help!
Damn I was gonna draft Russ Grimm.
