these seem to get voted on by strongest players, crap they are all about even (except Bonds/Ruth combo), it comes down to the weakest players.

I have great weak players, lol (yes strange to say out loud too)

That's kind of what it is in all sports though, at all levels. Even in the Dream Team practices, it would still come down to which side had MJ and Magic

agree - but you have to have the Kerr, Pippen and Kareem's that make the difference. You and me playing with MJ and Magic isn't going to give them a chance but it will give us great seats for the action.

I agree here but I feel I have smaller weak spots... I have great hitting, excellent power, and good speed... My rotation is top 5 in the draft IMO, my BP is my weakness but I felt I found some good guys including a Cy Young winner... My bench was selected as situational for my bottom order guys or a leadoff pinch hit... All of my guys are multiple gold glovers except Hack and Williams but I don't believe GG was given out back then but I read Hack was a beast defensively and Williams was average... I honestly think I have the better team, while you show different lineups, you must acknowledge they have to play in the field too... I don't think the different lineups make up for the defensive difference just to say I can change sides of the plate...

those are OPS+ and ERA+ numbers on my players. I will put my lineup vs righty or lefty against anyones, up and down the order and bench.

My staff has pretty high era+ but can't compete probably against Nos's.

I did not look up "defensive numbers" but there is no way you did for my team, your just saying that your team is better defensively and you could be correct but I see a lot of GG next to many of my players seasons (well the ones after GG started, lol)

I'm gonna be honest, I don't know what ops+ nor era+ means... I wasn't really referring to your team in my post I was talking about mine... I was saying I wasn't going to change lineups based on pitching when I field great defenders as well as hitters... I'd lose much to much... I'd argue the same in terms of the players you selected to start in the field... Just my opinion though...

just to be fair and so you understand what I looked at. Looks like you probably have me defensively, the old guys I guess couldn't bend over on the few I looked at.

How funny is it that WLK spent all that time doing his team and if he had just waited Bums did it for him. lolzzz

Great teams fellas. Just my opinion but OPS+ and ERA+ aren't the end all in deciding the best team.

agreed... especially since longevity is irrelevant... many players have GREAT seasons, but then later on seasons will bring down any ratio stat, including ERA+ and OPS+

hell, levi Meyerle who has 164 OPS+ only played 307 games in his whole career... players like that is why if bums wins this will lose my vote vs any of the other 4 teams left...

Bingo, for example...

If you believe Levi Meyerle 163 who had 1400 AB's back in the 1870's is better than Manny Ramirez 154 you are coo coo for cocoa puffs...

After going back and forth looking at all of that and reading up on Bob Johnson some things started to come to mind both of those quotes are the main things... If ops+ is the measuring stick in which tells us who's better, then Pete Browning and Levi Meyerlee are better hitters than Ken Griffey Jr, Tony Gwynn and Manny... I just don't see that no matter how much I look into it...
