I'm not a WAR guy, but career WAR has merit.

I hate WAR, but i love JAWS... does that make sense??

I like WLK's roster better overall but matchup wise he has too many lefties against Bums' 3 lefty starters. Bums

When it all boils down, I agree.

Both of these lineups needed more righty/lefty balance imo.

Two excellent rosters, bums really should've started Nettles at DH instead of going with two 2nd basemen.

It could.

If I knew what Jaws was. (I only like WAR for players who's career is over. And I still don't like it. But I like it as a simplified compiling stat. That I don't fully understand and never will.)

JAWS is found at baseball references when you compare by position.... it is the average of career WAR and WAR7 which is your best 7 seasons...

Oh..... That seems pretty great. 7 years is a good window to judge a player.

hell, levi Meyerle who has 164 OPS+ only played 307 games in his whole career... players like that is why if bums wins this will lose my vote vs any of the other 4 teams left...

dude, they also had other jobs then....Levi didn't get paid $30 million for leading the league in HR and batting average.

Back then it was like normal folks playing softball.

After going back and forth looking at all of that and reading up on Bob Johnson some things started to come to mind both of those quotes are the main things... If ops+ is the measuring stick in which tells us who's better, then Pete Browning and Levi Meyerlee are better hitters than Ken Griffey Jr, Tony Gwynn and Manny... I just don't see that no matter how much I look into it...

look, Levi and Pete spend time on the bench...I am not comparing them to your top guys, but they blow away your low end guys..my top guys easily compare to your top guys...

That's why I tend to vote teams on their weakest players, everyone has studs....well except Nos

its ok, my teams are all built with fantasy approaches, by the numbers...the mocks tend to lean to name recognition, stories and legends. I would put my team up against any team for a full season, series and bet accordingly.

Wish we could put these players into a simulator and have them played out.

no I don't, but Levi is better than any bench player which he would be compared against.

i guess we all have different definitions of a good bench... I am one that likes all of my bench players to have a role... Both Browning and Levi to me would have no role on my bench...

It's pretty funny how at least 2 people said I have a better team but voted against me for having a lefty heavy team (5 of 9) and him having a lefty pitching bit he has ALL but 1 (8 of 9) guy is a righty and I have 3 righty pitchers or does that only apply to lefty teams with superior talent...

And again 3 of my 5 lefty hitters are considered alltime great hitters in the game and facing a guy named Noodles who's going up against a 3x Cy Young winning first ballot HOFer... How is he pulling 4 wins out over Lefty Grove twice, Bob Gibson twice Jim Palmer once, Mickey Lolich vs his 8 right handed batters once, I'll even concede Sutcliffe which I feel is a solid pick and a Cy Young winner as well... Unbelievable...

if it was lefty gomez then it would not be too hard... He may have been a HOFer, but he is probably one of the worst HOFers ever... Now I know you meant lefty Grove...
