And my reply then was that it only seems like a Giants thing to slump like this when in fact it happens all the time around the league, but we don't notice as much because it's not us. Sometimes we come out of it, sometimes we don't.
I'm pretty sure the Dodgers had a really hot streak a year or two ago followed by a rather mediocre run. Not sure the contrast was this extreme.
I really think aliens switched the big club's players with Richmond's. Just not sure what happened to the big league guys.

Giants - 5 hits, all singles.
Dodgers - 3 hits, 1 single, 1 double, 1 home run.

Even this year, the Cubs were playing .750 ball, then played a month or so of .350 ball, and now they are hot again.

Did you happen to hear SabeySabes on KNBR today? He went off on the slump. Basically saying there are no silver linings to this thing, and the team is playing like crap.

Refreshing to hear an exec speak clear and honestly like that.

Lollygaggers.

I acknowledge that Pence has been hurt and is not quite back, Panik has been hurt and is not quite back, etc. But the continued inability to hit with RISP is puzzling. While I admire Belt's OBP, he needs to drive in runs, not just keep getting on base. Posey is on track for his lowest full season RBI total, and it isn't because there hasn't been men on base when he gets up. No one has been clutch with this team, save Crawford, who is not a #3 or #4 or #5 hitter.

I jokingly have been saying "Fire Bam Bam" for years. Not sure it is his fault, but when the team just plain stops hitting for weeks/months at a time, what is there to do to shake things up? I accept getting shut out by Kershaw, but by Rich Freaking Hill?!? #smh

And we have been playing .300 ball for six or seven weeks now with no end in sight.

One never sees the end until it ends. Suddenly the same exact players go from failing to succeeding.

Prolonged, month-long, best-in-base to worst-in-baseball slumps do not happen to every team. Sorry, I just don't buy that.

Not every team every year. Look, I'm fine with it if you want to think it's a Giants thing. But I bet if someone did the math they'd see slumps like this happen fairly often, to all teams. And perhaps I'm wrong, I'd be surprised but accept the data.

EA needs to protect there with 2 strikes. It's little stuff like that that adds up to a shutout

A quick look at baseballreference.com shows this:

Worst 40 game record in 2016 and the Best 40 game record in 2016

Cards: 20-20 (23-17) (+3)

Nats: 20-20 (25-15) (+5)

Boston: 18-22 (26-14) (+8)

Jays: 17-23 (26-14) (+9)

Dogs: 18-22 (26-14) (+9)

Cubs: 18-22 (29-11) (+11)

Giants: 15-25 (31-9) (+16)

The Cards, Nats and Red Sox are pretty even keep, not too hot, not too cold for long.

The Giants are smoking hot or ice cold. A happy medium seems better, though how remains a question.
