He does have 3 triples this season, so he does have the ability...

Wow, another Bumgarner home run! I tongue-in-cheek said that maybe he'd hit one again tonight.

And thank, Mr. Marlon Byrd, for your stellar first game as a Giant.

Belt has pretty much hovered around these numbers for a while now, I'm thinking this is what he is. So the question I want to ask is, is this alright? Around .275/.350/.490, on pace for 23 homers and 80 RBI, with great defense and the ability to play LF in a pinch. Is that what we want to invest in?

Those numbers are very similar to what J.T. Snow put up, and he was adored as a Giant.

(Random I know, but it just came to me)

Three completely different, equally difficult plays and Duffman made them all look easy. He has really figured out 3B hasn't he? After rarely playing there in his life.

We had this convo a couple months back, IIRC.

I think he is "enough", but not enough to "lock down" to a long contract. 1B is a fall-back position, so you don't want it blocked by anything short of elite.

Besides, with Posey, and potentially Shaw, you don't really need to lock the position with just "good" production.

So does Bum change his approach here? Or does he still swing out of his shoes?

Looked like he took a bit off that swing, but it was a bad swing.

That's what I was thinking. 1st is the fall-back position, as you said, for a number of guys (but Posey in particular). I'm too lazy to look up the production, but I'd wager that Belt is in the upper tier, and along with his defense and age, it makes him one of the more valuable players.

It's probably a better off-season discussion, but a good discussion. It really is a BIG question because of Posey.

(Not REALLY proposing this)...

ERA should be adjusted for ANYTHING a pitcher does.

If he commits an error, any runs scored as a result should count towards his ERA.

If he creates a run, it should be deducted from his ERA.

Cuzzi has not been perfect, but he has actually been somewhat decent tonight.

This may have been addressed somewhere else, and if so, I apologize.....but has anyone else noticed the Dudgers schedule that gave them Monday and Thursday off this week, as well as this coming Monday? 3 days off in a 7 day span? That is crap........Those guys are soft, though.....they need it. Lol

Off the top of my head, the elite 1B are probably...

AGone
Goldy
Rizzo
Pujols (??)
Tex (??)
Abreu (??)

I think Belt is probably a decent step behind these guys, but will certainly pass up Tex and Pujols by next year.
