.415 BABIP. He has been scalding the ball, so I think his BABIP should naturally be a bit higher, but that is a ridiculous number.

.314 since coming back.

BUT BUT…

.415 BABIP. He has been scalding the ball, so I think his BABIP should naturally be a bit higher, but that is a ridiculous number.

A tell of two seasons for him. Its almost as if the full seasons numbers tell the real story. He's not as bad as his early season suggests but his current BABIP says that he's probably not as good as he looks right now. Still, I think he can do better, overall, in 2023 than he has this year.

Looking at his game logs, he missed most of June, shows back up on July 6 (or there abouts)

I'm not quite there but am close. I think I still hang on to BA for sentimental reasons (I like the triple slash and putting in OPS as the third slash is a bit redundant). I do usually go with PA versus AB now.

More important is OPS, Moneyball notwithstanding.

Yep. An informal calculation of the number of Unearned Runs given up by Team (a pretty objective bottom line, IMHO) shows the leaders as of 8/15 are:

Cubs 65
CWS 61
SFG 60

By contrast:

LAD 38

Errors is only one metric. But I refer more to the non-error plays-not-made. Letting the bloop fall, allowing the trail runner to advance, not turning 2, etc.
