You forget the bats he is throwing at. He will look like the Dan Haren of old today...

75 pitches through 6, I would guess.

And he'll probably hit the go-ahead run.

couldn't even go 4...

tz, you STILL think it is a given that his option will be picked up?

I do. He's cheap and a good clubhouse fit. Also, they can justify it with the fact that he won't be pitching in the WBC next year.

Belt is either literally on fire, or he has truly figured this little game out.

If he has actually figured this thing out, we are looking good for next year.

Ultimately, I believe it will be picked up as well. 6M, in todays game, is a decent mid-reliever.

But he has been absolutely putrid in 90% of his games this year. The game he got hurt was super-solid, and his last game was acceptable. That's it.

If he does not have at least 50% of his remaining games fall at least into the "acceptable category, I would not be surprised at all to see the option declined.

He is going to have to pitch good the rest of the season to justify his option getting picked up in my opinion. Otherwise the Giants should just let him walk and give that money to Gaudin.
