I think the problem with having a regular do it is that if he gets injured, you're fucked.

The logic against it makes sense, but I just think it's telling that all 32 teams always carry a long snapper.

I think it would be real easy to replace a guy that snaps a ball for kicks if a injury occurred. That's his only job.

Much like Hanson going down and Suh kicking.....Do we need to carry a 2nd kicker in case Akers goes down?

You suck it up for that game and get a guy on Monday morning. My opinion on it.

I just feel we could open a spot on the roster for borderline guys then a LS

32 teams may carry one, not sure on that. Do any of those 32 teams use that same player for anything other then LS?

Nope, not that I know of. They all have a dedicated long-snapper.

Hmm, I have to wonder what those combine numbers look like for guys coming out of college. How are these guys rated? Or Drafted?

Was Mulbach drafted? I have no idea.

There must be a formula for this complicated position to fill.

I still think they can be found every day of the week.

I just think it's a option much like the wildcat or option read QB in the NFL. It didn't exist a few years ago but it does now.

Not just the option read QB but the OL that goes along with it. It's here to stay whether the fans like it or not. imo.

I would rather burn a roster spot on a guy that is money.

If you use Dom or another lineman you always need multiple in case of injuries. Hell colleges offer scholarships to long snappers.

Greenwood and Fuller cut as well as Hepburn.

No great surprise I would like to see Greenwood on the practice squad. I see Z. Sanders was cut in Buffalo and Winfield in seattle?????

When was the last time we've had an UDFA make the roster? Seems lucky that we got Fauria and Waddle. We might not have to draft another OT next year since Waddle is rumored to be good enough to almost start.

Fauria has been growing on me all pre season. Would be nice if he pans out.

He will take Scheffler's spot next year and cost 1/5 of what we are paying him. Williams will be back next year to fill the role Heller used to play. With those two very inexpensive contracts the Lions did a nice job of setting up 2014 at the TE position. Before the draft we would have ended this season with no TE's under contract.

Not liking the fact Mike Williams is on IR now. I do however like that Fauria was definitely making the cut. He was a red zone monster at UCLA. With the hieght of CJ, Butterfingers and Kris Durham, Fauria. Has to be major redzone mismatches.

I love watching film on guys. I could see us using two TE set with Butterfingers blocking and Fauria the route runner by seasons end. I was high on him all preseason, but was nervous after the early reads in week one. I could see Pettigrew not being resigned if he steps up this year. Very inexpensive contracts and try to find 3rd TE next year.

Undrafted by Balmer Ravens...

I feel the option read will be a fad. Sure there are RGIII's and Kaep's of the world. IMO it is hard to find option read guys that can throw the NFL passes. These coaches will be able to shut it down. IMO also with the investments the QB's are getting these days. I would not want my guy running and taking extra hits every game.

I don't think its a fad gandy.....QBs like RG 3, Wilson, Kapernick etc will make there reads and if it isn't there rush for 5 or so yards and slide, or run out of bounds.....Option read QBs don't need to take hits, they can always slide and take the yellow hanky when a Defensive players is overly agreesive and spears him while on the ground.....It's a safer league now and the Defense is scrared to tackle a QB.

I'm almost scared for what the NFL might do if Suh breathes on RG3 this year.

It would have been interesting to see how things would have turned out if M. Williams was not on the IR.

imo LeShoure gets cut if he was not such a high draft pick. He will be good in short yardage situations but you can find that role player cheaper. Bell is the #2 and Riddick looks to be a third down specialist or Bush fill in.
