53 man roster 2.0

I will give it a shot after the 3rd preseason game. I am not going to try to guess IR moves so the basic roster IMO is:

QB - 3

Stafford, Hill, Moore

RBs - 4

Bush, Bell, LeShoure, Miller (KR)

O-Line - 9

Reiff, Sims, Raiola, Warford, Waddle, Gandy, Scott, Hiiliard, Scott

WR - 5

Calvin Johnson, Broyles, Burleson, Edwards, Schilens

Pettigrew, Fauria, Veldman, Scheffler

I think Williams will make the practice squad and could replace Scheffler at some point.

Miller gets the extra spot as being the return guy but if Spurlock beats out a WR then he gets the return position and the Lions can add somewhere else.

I meant to mention I think Taylor wins the spot at DE and Willie Young and his personnel fouls gets cut. Long shot but I think Schwartz will try to send a message.

They better not cut young....watching last nights game now, but young had a very solid first game. Im not impressed with taylor so far. Unless hes about to do something this game

IMO Schwartz wants to send a message and address one of the Lions biggest issues stupid penalties.

The thing is you have only 53 spots and if you want a guy like Taylor on the practice squad you have to place him on waivers. The DE position quickly went from a question mark to a strong unit if inexperienced with Ansah as a starter.

No guess at a 53 man roster will be exact at this point but I like to go out on a limb as well.

Waddle's play has been very good for a guy that played in a system at college. So much so I think Fox becomes expendable as well due to Scott being flexible at two positions.

I bitched enough about Mayhew's lack of finding guys 2-7 in the draft and as UDFA. Well it appears this year he did a good job with some of these guys and tat is going to create some roster turnover.

I think Matt Willis Makes if over Spurlock. No way they keep 4 TE's, and If they do Michael Williams is one of them. Most likely He's going to the IR tho, and Theo Riddick takes his spot. I think Bannan makes it over Saddler Mqueen (sp?). 4 DTs. 5 DE's and 4 DTs in my opinion, take out Drew and add Willie. LaAdrian Waddle Makes this team. I can guarantee it. I say keep 7 CB's and add Greenwood to the list. Maybe remove Kellen Moore.

From what I read Schwartz is hell bent on 3 QBs.

I doubt the Lions go with 3 backs thats why I think Miller makes it. He could be stashed on the practice squad as well as Riddick but with only 3 backs it could get tight.

I like Greenwood's potential and if you add him I think you lose a safety and Mathias is used to cover two roles. Not sure if I like that idea.

Like I said it gets tough because I think Waddle, Taylor, Fuaria don't make it through waivers.

I took your list and tweaked it how I see it playing out.

I like this list with 2 tweaks. Get rid of Wendling. We do not have room for specialists on this team. Add back Willie Young. Get rid of T Lewis and add anyone off the street.
