Good news...

Padres completed the sweep of the Cubs. We pick up a game...

Remember how amazing Span looked those first two games back from the dl? Well, since then, he's slashing .200/.241/.291. Of course, when you think about it, looking at the roster, that isn't that bad.

Why isn't Bochy batting him in the 3 slot?

Sad that that is legit a lineup we may see at some point this season.

Worse than 2008...

Not sure if you guys are aware...

I hate baseball...

I still love baseball. And what the Giants have been playing surely is not baseball as we have become accustomed to.

I hate THIS baseball. I remain a pitching and defense first believer, but dang, our hitting has been awful since last July.

But even in the post-ASG slump last year, we still averaged over 4.04 runs per game. Beginning 2017, we are averaging 3.33 runs per game.

This is just hard to watch right now.

89 pitches through 8.

Amazing.

What's so amazing? Haven't you been watching these games?

In 2016, the Giants were 20-37 when getting two walks or less, and 67-38 when getting 3 walks or more. So it seems like walking more would help, plate patience and all that, right?

In 2017, the Giants are 8-17 when getting two walks or less, and 14-16 when getting 3 walks or more.

Correlation is not causation and all that, but the plate impatience is obviously not a winning strategy. And tonight with only 5 weak hits and no walks makes it really hard to score runs.

For the game, the Nats saw 156 pitches, and the Giants saw 100. Something is seriously wrong with this hitting approach.

Like I said in the other thread, first truly bad team from the jump since 2008. We're out of practice watching a Giants team be bad.

Would we have it any other way (besides the current team being bad, that is)?

Yeah, I'm not mad about it, but it's still no fun.

Shit even 2008 had Timmy's first Cy, so we really have to go back further for a blah all year kind of team.

And we had the big-4 prospects coming up, and we were not expected to win. I rather enjoyed 2008.

And we had a big ol' Bocock playing short...
