Up 25 points in the 2nd half and you only ran the ball 9 times in the 2nd half? Like seriously

I'm not even mad at their defense. They were going to get gassed considering the Pats ended up running 93 plays. It was just a matter of time.

The whole sequence reminds me of the vikings losing the 2009 nfc title game vs the saints when they had the game won, but ol'favre got a little too greedy

When you blow a lead that big, it's a domino effect of failures and everybody is to blame.

totally different, Falcons had a 25 point lead, in the Super Bowl, and lost. When Favre threw that pick game was tied.

If they ran the ball 29 times after that and they lost, what would you be saying right now?

"They were playing not to lose" "They went too conservative, they should have thrown the ball more"

Yeah but that was much different. Stupid call/pass by Favre for sure but that was a close game throughout

They ran it on 1st down. The mistake they made, obviously, is not run it on 2nd and 3rd down. If they were looking at a 50 yard FG, the playcalling might have made some sense. But it was 40?

Not to mention it would have taken the clock down to 2+ minutes or forced the Pats to burn all their TOs.

I swear the Belichick is in their head at this point.

Never said to run the ball on every play. But there were obvious running situations that they passed on which changed the momentum of the game. Who is saying run the ball every play? If you think running the ball 9 times is ok in the 2nd half up 20+ then something is wrong with you. This is not the Giants who run game is very suspect. They have 2 damn good backs. Running the ball a total of 9 times is simply inexcusable. They were up 25 with under 5 to go in the 3rd. At some point you have to think to start running the ball more to kill some clock.

Passing on 3rd and 1 when Ryan fumbled was stupid. It totally changed the momentum. Dropping back 2X after that huge Julio catch when you were a fg away from sealing game was stupid. A FG there wins the game.

Well yeah, i'm not saying they were the same situation, just that THAT PARTICULAR SEQUENCE reminded me of a fail from a game years ago. That's all.

39 yards to be exact. Julio was at the 22 after the catch. Hilarious that they did not get a fg attempt out of that. I would have even ran on the 3rd and 23 after Ryan got sacked. They were on the 35 yard line there. They have a damn kicker and it's in a dome. Run the ball and pickup 2 or 3 yards and we're talking about a 50 yard attempt

I'm not sure Atlanta ever recovers from this. They might not even make playoffs next year. This kind of loss can devastate a team. And they have to deal with Dallas, GB, hell even Detroit if they find a RB......Carolina might get back into the mix, going to be TOUGH in the NFC next year, and I think they just blew their window

Yeah... this is a loss that stays with you. Atlanta has a good team, but I do not expect them back in Super Bowl next year. They are now the target in NFC, will have more difficult schedule.. and had a lot of things bounce their way end of season to make the journey easier (Seattle loss to get 2nd seed, GB knocking off Dallas, emotional last game at Georgia Dome...).

Both GB and Seattle had heartbreakers in 2014 (Packers more similar to Falcons meltdown). Neither got to Super Bowl in 2015 and did not make NFCC game.

I really can't blame the DEF...they defended twice the amount of plays NE's DEF did...flat out gassed.

This loss is one the OFC plain and simple.

You never know what happens.

If they run the ball a few times and lose a few yards and kick a 41 or so yard FG, he easily could have missed.

Easily could have been a fumble mixed mixed in there as well. Bottom line you have to hand it to the Patriots for this win!

Patriots deserve credit......the WAIT for the opponent to make mistakes

Bottom line is they don't win this if Atlanta doesn't help them do it by handing over the ball with very stupid playcalling.

That's as much on Atlanta as it is the Pats for taking advantage.

All of it is hypothetical really, but the percentages overwhelming support running the ball and attempting a FG...I think you know that.

That said, Yes, you do have hand it to the Patriots!

LOL...Congrats man!
