Kelly is right, it is just a football decision. If Gabbert was playing well Kaep would still sit, regardless of his contract amount.

Gabbert started the season ok, but it went downhill from there. That is by far the reason that forced the change. Even if Kaep didn't re-do his contract, there was going to be a change at QB.
Remind you of anyone last year?

No deeper is right, he started going down in 2014, he also started regressing in 2013

Now that you mention it, think it did go back to 2013, but it wasn't that bad yet. So when it came time to negotiate his contract following that season, he didn't get 'franchise QB' guarantees/security. We fans still thought he was going to get even better, i guess still off the 2011 and 2012 highs? We still thought his ceiling was higher than Wilson, due to his better physical attributes.

Of course not all of it was his fault, and boy did we post on this like crazy. But he certainly went downhill in 2014, and it continued into 2015.

No. He played an excellent game to start 2015 and then went to shit. We were comparing this season only to last. I know Kaepernick was shit long before last year but the point was he played a solid game in the opener last year and they whipped Minnesota.

Matt Maiocco just said that none of the players are excited at all with Kaepernick as QB. Everyone at practice was down. Not sounding good for Purguy's man crush.

How quick you are to throw the guy under the bus. When Harbaugh was in SF......Kaep was the toast of the town.
Now he is just toast.

Quick? Uuuhh....you DO know this is 2016? Kaepernick has been in decline for 3 years.

I wonder how Kaep has been in practice? There have been conflicting reports about his performance. Guess we're going to find out soon enough.

I've heard that he's been consistently worse that Gabbert, but that Gabbert has been a practice warrior. So much for that.

Dammit, I'm tired of this shiit. I wish we had just kept Driskel and let him get beat around.

We know what we have with Blaine (nothing) and Krapper (nothing).

Just start tossing shit against the wall and see if anything sticks at this point!

Gabbert's 5.9ypa (worst in the league) is pathetic and ypa is more telling of a QB's effectiveness. Kaepernick's career is 7.3ypa (would be tied with Cam for 16th this season). For that alone I think this switch will be good and help the offense.

Edit: Kaep's career ypa is actually 7.4

Where was this reported? I can't find anything on it.

I hope you don't get your hopes up too high. This will not even be close.

Oh, I expect the Bills to win......that's a tough defense to face. But, over the course of the season switching to Kaep is the best move for the team.

True. I don't suppose he can do any worse than Gabbert. Its a lose-lose situation. There are not enough athletes on that offense to make even Joe Montana look good. The good thing is now with the renegotiation we don't have to pay kaepernick next year when he gets crushed and injured this year.

Everyone expects the Bills will win this one...and they should win this one

but knowing how we are we're going to lose this game
