This better not stop us from signing Thurmond.
Maybe some good coaching will help him, but he has never been close enough to the ball to get a pick yet..
I thought maybe Zimmer would be able to work with him, but evidently Zimmer didn't figure it was worth trying.
True...shoot for the stars you tend to get fireworks, shoot for the ground you tend to get dirt in your face.Matt Barrows @mattbarrows 3m
Signing Chris Cook appears very similar to the Perrish Cox, Eric Wright deals in recent seasons -- low risk for the #49ers. #skynotfalling
Posted this in the general FA thread, but more appropriate here:
I'd much rather have Thurmond, but assuming Cook is a reasonable deal, what the hell? Baalke has done a pretty good job identifying CBs to date, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. If it's a longer/pricier deal, though, I'm not going to be very happy (edit: obviously not a longer deal; gotta think this is for a pretty low number).
Not a first-round pick, but Cook does fit Baalke's FA pattern of bringing in high round disappointments. And our scheme places less pressure on CBs than many in the league.
