I'm stunned at how undisciplined the team is defensively. There is no gap coverage just all running to the ball. Very poorly coached and prepared. Running backs and receivers easily elude the defenders by just running around them.

This game could easil yhave been 33 - 29 in favor of the 49ers without the 3 devastating turnovers.

And some more disciplined players, but in their defense most of these guys are practice squad level players.

Yes but that comes with experience and coaching. I really do think they need a new dc maybe Quinn will get fired in Atlanta and they can hire him to be the dc.

Mullens did throw for 400 yards but way to many critical mistakes; dumb mistakes.

Yep. You'd think they would tackle and cover their areas of responsibility but the defenders all run directly to the ball and its so easy to make a move and they are gone.
The missed tackles too are unbelievable along with all the yards after contact.

The turnovers were killer along with the awful defensive lapses. Marcel Harris at safety was responsible for at least one of the big screw ups. This is a lost season so at the very least watch some of these young guys for the rest of the season to see who is worth keeping and who is not.

I haven't seen a single DB I'd keep other than Sherman

Witherspoon is the only higher level pick I can think of. None of them so far this year have proven they can be starters. Some are rookies and need more time. I am worried Tartt is turning into anther Ward 2.0. Can't count on him to make it through a season.

Did you watch the game?

It was on...but I just wasn't overly interested. I'm not a fan in general of watching games in Seattle or KC (especially if they're a defensive oriented team) because they just ride the hype train (especially in prime time) and it leads to complete wipeout games.

I knew SF would lose...just a matter of how much, and when they'd eventually shoot themselves in the foot. Even though the score was bad, the funny thing is, I was underwhelmed by Seattle. Maybe they disregarded SF...maybe I wasn't paying attention...who knows.

We were preempted in our area until 5 minutes left in the 1st half. I watched till half time than missed more than half of the 2nd half. They shot themselves in the foot with turnovers. The 49ers are looking more at talent evaluation now more than winning. They were rotating a lot of rookies in even players like Julian Taylor who never saw the field when they were trying to win first. They can evaluate and tank at the same time.

I wasn't all that impressed with Seattle either. Their run game has improved considerably as did their run blocking. I noticed that more than anything.

Witherspoon hasn't either. Tartt and Colbert were good hitters but can't stay on the field. I thought we were set at Safety with those two and I suppose the 49ers did to since they let Reid go. But I'm less and less sure about those two.
If your entire defense only gets two INTs for the entire season then definitely they are not doing their jobs.

I said earlier that the score could have easily been 33-29 for the 49ers without the two fumbles and the pick. Two turnovers inside the opponent's five yard line, one of them returned for a touchdown and the fumbled punt which set up an immediate TD were crushers.
Mullens did OK though, missing his two starting wideouts and his top running back. Speaking of that, how the fuck do you injure yourself in pre-game warmups? That's a new one on me. He did throw for over four hundred yards and two TDs. I liked what I saw of Jeff Wilson too but of course, like everyone else, he got hurt.

No Witherspoon hasn't. They are not so far. That is why cornerback is second in priority withe edge rusher being first. Safety looked set prior to the season and now it doesn't look set. Tartt seems to get hurt every year. They drafted Moore who played Safety in college and are trying to convert him to corner. He has 4.3 speed. After this season might be worth trying him out at safety.

Reddit.com Never miss another game.
As for the Seattle run game, our guys can't tackle and they don't know how to surround the RB and prevent him from cutting. They all lunge to the ball like hyena's to a gazelle and the RB just skips away. No discipline at all
