Nicks for part of 1 year isn't worth anything near a 3rd. More like a 6th.

Just for the record. I would only offer a 3rd or more if I could work out an extension for him. I've said that almost every time I've suggested trading for him since the offseason but this time I omitted that for some reason.

The Falcons would probably offer more than the 49ers. They are very desperate after Julio's injury.

If a long-term deal is the caveat, why not just wait 'til he's a FA? I don't think he'll get any more money in the offseason than he would right now. It'd probably be close at least.

3rd round picks are not chump change.

I guess you are right about a 3rd but I would give up a 4th.

I wouldn't trade anything for the guy at this point. Now that it's looking like the Niners aren't going to have Aldon for the playoffs, their chances if winning the SB are slim to none anyway. If the Niners want him, make an offer in FA.

Let's see what Baldwin can do instead. He had 1 start so far.

If Aldon's back for the playoffs, I would be back on board to go after Nicks. But I still wouldn't give up a 4th rounder. 5th or lower.

I would go after Gordon instead as well. He is like a faster Colston and can do it all. Signed through 2015 for chump change. Just has the one year suspension risk.

The problem with Gordon is he's likely played himself to being untradable and Cleveland is probably serious when they say they have no intention of trading him.

If we do trade for a WR Nicks would be the only realistic option that would have some impact this year and not cost an arm and leg in terms of draft picks.

Like I said before I hate to give up a 3rd for him but after today it's pretty clear we need another playmaker at WR for the offense and passing game to open up and waiting for Crabtree till mid November which you can say effectively December since Crabtree isn't going to step on the field and suddenly pick up right where he left off might be tough.
