Payton needs to look at it like this. When its the holliday seasons and him and Eli are together old and retired. Is Payton going to be okay with seeing his little kid brother with more rings on his fingers talking about the glory days. I would think not.

There were no reports that he visited Santa Clara. Harbaugh and Roman went to watch his workout in Duram and apparently liked it enough to fly a team doctor out there on Wednesday to administer an exam.

And IF it's true that the Manning camp initiated contact with the 49ers, this should be a done deal - unless his contract demands are outrageous. I've been saying this for a while that if Manning cares more about winning a championship then SF is his destination.

I'm fucking stoked. Someone kiss me.

There are reports that Manning reached out to the 9ers? Sorry if this was posted I'm all jumbled up right now

Supposedly that is the way it went down. You gotta figure Moss is in his ear selling him too.

Brodi, can you link it up! Holy shit, like clyde said, IF he did initiate contact with the 49ers, it should get done.

Random comment:

For how popular of a player Peyton Manning is and how often you see his name on TV or on other written reports, it's kind of amazing how many people misspell his name.

Go to Tenn: Get good money and be set for life if they really did offer him work after Football. Plus he played College there and his wife is from there.

Go to Denver: Possibly get the most money

Come to San Fran: Best shot at superbowls and a new stadium on the way.

Call me crazy but I think he plays the game to win Super Bowls. If he feels one of the other teams gives him a better shot then lots of luck. I look forward to stomping his ass in the SB.

I have nothing substantial as far as anything said by anybody, but just off the ole eye test, which is so often useless, I'd be surprised if Randy has contacted or would ever contact Peyton to discuss joining the 49ers or to lure him to the 49ers. I just can't see Randy doing that but I don't know Randy and I'm only basing this off the eye and ear test.

Especially Peyton, he loves the game so much.

Also in the back of his mind is Eli-2 Peyton-1. You know he is thinking about that! I would be if it was my brother, they are a competetive family.

If I would have told you two years ago, that in 2012 our starting QB was going to be Peyton Manning and our #1 WR was going to be Randy Moss, would you have believed me? :-)

Think back two years ago, how outrageous that would have sounded?

I know everyone has been saying his motivation in talking with the Niners would be to drive up his asking price, but I find that without merit. At 36 and coming off numerous career threatening injuries, why would the guy even attempt to play football again? He's already set for life and has more millions that he could ever need. He's probably one of the leading guys in the NFL in endorsements and will have them for years to come.

The guy wants to win. At 36 you don't go to a mediocre team and show you still have it. If he gets any sort of offer from the Niners that comes close to his top offers, I can't imagine him turning down the opportunity to play for us. The Niners are young and in their prime and would be for the duration of the rest of his career. Lets get it done.

Albert Breer:

According to a source, the parameters of the 5-year, $90 million deal Peyton Manning signed in August are simply the jumping-off point now.

The structure of the new deal could vary -- and likely will provide protections in the case the neck issue resurfaces ... But yeah, big $$$.

Might have to remove the tag from Goldson to make that happen.
