Peyton Manning - QB - Colts

NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reports free agent Peyton Manning will throw for the Titans after his Friday workout for the Broncos.
"This is just another step in the process," explained Lombardi. "I don't think we're getting a resolution just because [Manning] is throwing for Denver." No date has been set for the Titans workout. There is no clear front-runner between the two AFC finalists, and CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman reports "there are at least two teams ready to jump into the fray." The Manning camp has spoken with both teams, one of which we presume is the 49ers.

This could be what Omar Kelly and Randy Moss talked about.

Every day is just something new lol. Wonder how true this is or if they are trying to scare Alex smith into signing.

Not going to get my hopes up. But can you imagine Manning with Moss, VD, Crabtree, and Gore running behind him. It would be so sick.

I have wondered all along why Moss would want to play with Alex.

If Manning didn't want to play with Marshall..he isn't going to want to play with Moss.

It's either true or it's just some bored beat writer trying to stir up shit - I think it is the latter.

If Manning didn't want to play with Marshall..he isn't going to want to play with Moss.

Then we release Moss, at no financial obligation to the team. If we have a shot at Manning-and who knows if we actually do-and Moss is in the way I doubt the FO will allow us to lose out on Manning for that reason.

I would actually think having moss would help with Manning coming here.

Dolphins exit Peyton chase

It should have been obvious when reports emerged on Thursday that the Dolphins plan to make an aggressive move for quarterback Matt Flynn. Miami’s apathy toward Flynn has evaporated because the team knows that Peyton Manning wouldn’t be taking his talents to his South Beach condo.

On Thursday, Manning told the Dolphins they are out of the Peyton chase, according to Jeff Darlington of NFL Network. (And, eventually, owner Stephen Ross will likely say the Dolphins “passed” on Peyton.)

The next team to go could be the Cardinals, who have to decide by 4:00 p.m. ET whether to cut quarterback Kevin Kolb or owe him a $7 million roster bonus as of Saturday.

So it indeed appears that the universe has reduced to two teams, the Titans and the Broncos. Just as it was on the first Friday of 2011 free agency, when it appeared that either the Cowboys or the Jets would land cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha.

And then the Eagles swooped in and grabbed him.

Though there’s no reason to think another team will make a similar move now, it makes sense to at least be aware of the possibility that, say, the 49ers will finally realize that Peyton would push them over the top.

Until Manning or Alex Smith sign a contract, it can’t be completely ruled out.

Man, I hope so... its crazy to so many of us that the 49ers have a clear option to upgrade the QB position, and they haven't expressed public interest.

Per ESPN's Breaking News right now

Schefter's sources reporting that the 49ers ARE the mystery team interested in Manning.

Still says the Broncos and Titans are the two favorites.
