Jonathan Hutton:

Manning passed his physical when he visited Titans on Wed. He will workout for TEN Sat at 10:45a. Don't know where.

It might be me reading too much into it and being tainted by my wanting to sign Peyton Manning but I have a feeling he's leaning toward signing with us.

Him throwing the next day early in the morning right after throwing for the Broncos just feels like he's just getting it over with and doing it for the process with the Titans.

The Broncos brought everyone including money men so if they were doing that it probably means they wanted to lock him up right there and than and obviously they didn't. Also Elway's tweets felt a little like lip service and not someone completely confident they have an edge in signing him.

I truly believe he's undecided and going to go through and analyze everything over the weekend but I just have that feeling that he's already leaning towards us over the other two teams.

If he really wants a contract similar to the one he had in Indy with $60 million over the first 2 seasons I don't see us singing him.

Everyone I've heard and read from said the contract shouldn't be an issue for any of the teams and it's really down to Peyton picking a team he wants to play for.

We can be creative with the contract and money and sign him to something he'll be happy with.

Peyton Manning - QB - Colts

The Denver Post reports the Broncos left free agent Peyton Manning's Friday workout for the team with "diminished expectations" they will be able to sign him.
it appears the Broncos had high expectations of leaving Durham with Manning's name on a contract. Instead, they left empty handed with the knowledge Manning will throw for the Titans on Saturday. A team source insisted the Broncos are "still in it," however. "We don't know. We'll know more over the weekend." There's a chance Manning might actually meet his supposed Tuesday deadline to make a decision.

That's the situation I'm hoping happens. I rather see CK behind center than AS. Not because I have faith that CK is going to become a household name, but Smith in his 8th season as a starter still struggles to move the ball. Wouldn't surprise me at all if we were in the bottom half of the league in 3 n OUTs.

All I am saying is to be careful what you wish for. The offense struggles to move the ball, not just Smith. And with CK they may still struggle to move the ball. Only at least Smith is showing that he can keep the turnovers down. CK is an unknown, but I would assume they would go way up.

Looks like it's between us and the Titans.

I wouldn't say Broncos are out of it but it was pretty clear they really wanted to get a deal done yesterday.

Lol yeah. That group with Elway and Fox walking with Peyton at the end of their visit looked real awkward.

Well my vibe about the Broncos was right so let's see if my vibe about the Titans was right also.

I do believe he's just throwing for the Titans to get it out of the way but the question is if he's getting it out of the way because he knows the Titans don't need to see him throw or if he doesn't care how he throws because he's already got a team he's leaning to in his mind.

I like this one from Sharpe

shannon sharpe ‏ @ShannonSharpe

49ers are not in the running titans/broncos 60/40 broncos. RT @mepcards

49ers not in the running despite being a finalist and Broncos are looking like they aren't even in the running anymore

Good read on Manning

Reading the article makes me feel better about our chances and dismisses mine and a lot of other people's fear about him maybe not wanting to fit in our system.

Is there any doubt that Manning is going to Tennessee? They are simply offering too much for him to pass up, plus he has so much history there. I honestly never really saw us as a legit threat to get him, but I could still be surprised.

It all depend on how badly he wants another ring (or even two).

We're only in this thing because we offer the best chance to get him that ring so that leads me to believe it's very important to him.

So Tennessee wouldn't surprise me but I think we're very much in this hunt.

Not only do we offer the best chance for him to win a ring but in terms of team it's a perfect situation for him since the burden wouldn't completely on him. Arguably the best defense in the league to help you out, arguably the best special teams in the league to set you up, and a power running game to lean on. So he wouldn't need to throw 40+ times a game to win and he would take far less wear and tear on his body by not throwing as much.

Former 49ers QB Steve Young reports that head coach Jim Harbaugh threw along with Peyton during workout...

Jim is feeling himself after the Moss workout huh?

I agree I think that we offer him the chance to still be a starter but not have to be the man. In IND he had to be the coach and Captain, I would think just to play on a contender for a couple years where he can lean on weapons and a great D/ST. That is the exact situation he needs to pro long his career and surpass young Eli

1012? Damn your a prophet!!! lol just kidding i know what you meant.

A lot of fans dont know what the "gift to gab" means. They took everything the coach said to heart and thought it really held substance. You have to admit that Alex did his job thought last year but I will always feel that he doesnt have the "IT" factor until proven otherwise...

I honestly don't think he's in competition with Eli for rings as much as the media would have us believe. I just get the feeling that our involvement is completely exaggerated.

We're considered a finalist and the only thing we have to offer him is a chance at a ring.

I don't know or think he's in a competition with Eli for rings but I think winning another ring is extremely important to him or we wouldn't be on the radar or even a finalist in all of this.

Also consider if the rumor is true he contacted us and it wasn't us contacting or pursing him so I think we're a very viable option for him right now.

My guess is he's torn between choosing us and going with the highest odds to win a ring or taking all the perks that come with Tennessee and rolling the dice in winning the ring.

His dilemma is he's looking at best a 3 year window to win a ring and the 49ers are his best bet for maximizing that 3 year window where he'll still play at a high level. With us he'd make us a strong SB contender but with the Titans this season they're just in the playoff mix.
