I actually think Blake is still a top 10 player in the NBA right now.

His injury and dumbassery aside, he's averaging 23.2, 8.7 reb and 5.0 assists a game.

Also everyone is making such a big deal about the Clippers record without Blake, but look at who they've played. They don't really have a quality win over anyone of note with Blake being absent.

I'm pissed thAt you took him.

Nobody bring out the lynch mob of this is another repetitive question.....

But, are we only doing current players?

I thought this was gonna be a past/present/future type of draft.

Did it change or am I missing a page that says which eras players can be drafted in a particular round?

Only current players, otherwise someone taking Jordan at #30 would be the biggest steal of all time.

No undrafted players either (i.e. college guys).

Teams will be rated based on how they would do in a current NBA season, and also a forecast of their potential in a 3 year span.

It is current. I thought at first it would be like that.

My pick is finally coming up.

Quick confirmation -- we can ignore short term injuries -- right ? (e.g., when we "rank" teams later somehow -- it won't matter if someone has a 2 month injury or not -- both for this year rankings ... and in 3 years)

But ... if someone has career ending injury or retires ... then that would definitely count against us when we rank teams based on the 3 year outlook -- right ?

Please correct me if I am wrong. My interpretation of previous discussion is this:

We are to assume players are healthy. If they are out with an injury, we assume they are still playing at the same level they were immediately prior to going down. MKG played a few games this year, so I am thinking he is draftable. What about a guy like Exum who is out the whole season?

By the way, I am only using those names because they were mentioned by someone else. Not trying to name drop.

Draymond Green at 26 is by far the biggest steal of the draft so far. He should have been a lock for top 15, maybe top 10.

Nice one Sting!

Health status: Assume everyone is healthy. The simulation will take place on 2K with rosters at full health and no injuries throughout the season. I will put team chemistry ON though, so keep that in mind while building your team.

As far as building a team for NOW as opposed to for the future, I suggest finding a good balance of both, but going all in one way or the other isn't a bad idea either if you find yourself stuck. The voting will be for the NOW & 3 years from now.

What about updated rosters, as far as ratings. Just curious, bc the ratings actually do change a bit for some players throughout the season. Will you be using updated rosters at the time when you do the simulation or the rosters and ratings from the beginning of the season?

I had the ultimate battle in my head over Blake and Draymond. Everyone around here knows how much I love Draymond and his game. If you simply swapped Blake and Draymond right now from GS to LAC, LAC is better and GS is worse. But if you had to build a team from scratch, I had to go with Blake.

I was surprised you didn't take Green, but I certainly understand why. It is very much the same as the LeBron vs. Curry argument at the top. I think Curry is better, but I would rather build around LeBron because of his versatility.

Yeah, building around Draymond will be somewhat of a challenge. I need to add pieces that will bring out the best of his game around him, but at 26 it was an easy pick for me.

This is a good question. Considering this draft will likely take at least a month to complete and with the voting we'll have afterwards I'm going to wait until around playoff time to make the simulations. I will use updated rankings. The good thing about that is the rankings usually aren't related to health status.

I really don't think it will. He does everything but score. As long as you have a couple guys who can put it in the bucket, a guy like Draymond can fit with many different styles of play and play multiple positions (3-5, kind of). This gives you a ton of flexibility, especially when selecting bench players.

At your position it was a no-brainer choice. It's easier for the later round picks with really close picks together to get Draymond and put him with another solid player. at 20, then at 40, I didn't think I could really get another player to help compliment Draymond. Good choice by you though.

Yeah, that is true. I think updated rosters would be the way to go, it just makes it even more realistic.

Challenge wasn't the right word, it just limits the TYPES of players I need to draft to surround him with.

But you can almost say that for any player I suppose. I don't want to name drop so it's hard to use examples of players I would target with my next pick if I didn't have Draymond since they wouldn't fit with him.
