It took two overtimes, but everything is still alive for Ohio State — and for the Big Ten, which could still get two teams into the College Football Playoff, depending on what happens beyond Columbus. But Michigan’s hopes, so close to fruition after dominating most of the way with a stifling defense

NY Times
Ohio State won, but the scoreboard is an unreliable narrator. The Wolverines outplayed Ohio State in many respects: on offense, converting 9 of 19 third-down attempts; on defense, sacking Barrett eight times; and over all, keeping the game close despite a turnover margin of minus-two

I don't have time to post the rest right now. But here are the first two from my google search. If you'd like, I can post more later. Have to pick up my little guy from school right now.

As I said before -- everyone got to watch the game. Be happy you won, the W is all that matters. UM gets nothing for moral victories.
Ok - I trust you - you are so right. Especially if the MSM agrees with you. Congrats on your consolation prize of "outplaying" a bunch of freshman with your upperclassman. Those poor kids have to go the rest of their lives, haunted by the ghosts of the early 1900 Michigan teams - you know, the time when Michigan "domintated"

Having read the last couple of pages, I honestly thought Michigan outplayed Ohio State for a majority of that game. I thought Ohio State was fortunate that the game was even close going into the 4th quarter.

This discussion really wasn't about one team outplaying the other. It was about Michigan "dominating" the game - which is just not true.

I love my Wolverines, but you gotta throw that knock out punch when you get the chance. Keep a team in the game and it can and will come back to bite you.

I only commented when a few OSU fans said UM was lucky that OSU missed two FG's or the game wouldn't have went to OT, completely ignoring the fact, OSU's offense was responsible for 3 points all game (10 if u want to give them credit for the 3 yards it took for the 2nd TD)

Everyone got to watch the game. Up until the 2nd pick by Speight. UM was completely outplaying OSU. OSU's defense kept them in the game and in the 4th, the offense finally started moving the ball.

It is exactly why I said -- I would gladly change spots and let OSU smack us around for 3 quarters if you'd like to trade for the loss.

Michigan dominated the first half IMO. But could only muster a 3 point lead, which in the end did them in. They played well enough to be ahead by more than 3 heading into the 4th quarter as well, but again that was the lead they had. Michigan had too many costly turnovers.

Anyone outside of OSU fans will say the same. The fact is -- OSU won the game. That is all that matters. I honestly think OSU fans got to watch a different game than the rest of the country, with some of the responses.

It'd be like a UM fan saying -- the 4th quarter was pretty even because OSU only scored 3 points. No -- once OSU got the crowd going again and the momentum, the offense started moving the ball and breaking plays. UM was in survival mode.

I can agree with that as well. Michigan was complete trash in the 4th Quarter on offense and choked the game away. If we have a better QB that Speight, we win by 1 or 2 scores.

It is even until you look at the 4th quarter and see OSU got the majority of their yards in the 4th and OT, while UM had roughly 40 yards of offense in the 4th and OT.

Hence the reason it has been said REPEATEDLY. OSU owned the 4th quarter and UM was in survival mode as they lost trust in their QB. If you'd like a better assessment -- OSU had the ball basically the whole 4th quarter and STILL lost time of possession by 3 minutes.

I swear -- OSU fans must have had a different broadcast than everyone else. I posted the NY TImes article, the USA Today, I can post more later if you'd like. You had an AP voter actually put UM ahead of OSU in the poll, yet OSU fans still think people are making it up.

You kicked our ass in the 4th quarter, but the 1st 3 quarters weren't close and UM turnovers is the only reason it was.

Never argued that Michigan didn't outplay Ohio St. for parts of the game. But - you completely disregard the interceptions as defensive dominance. And would have no idea what would have happened had those drives continued. The stats are what they are. An even, classic game. Next year will be fun. Or perhaps some major chaos happens? And we meet again soon!

I haven't even read his name anywhere. It shows the officials for the game as Capron (lead official), Schwartzel (back judge) and Bobby Sagers (side judge)

And finally, John Wiercinski, the linesman last Saturday, is from the Grand Rapids area. He was the line judge for the 2015 Michigan-Ohio State game.

TY. They only listed 3 in the write up on cbs. I had no idea there were even 8 refs. Do you know if these are the guys who do the sticks and what not?

I believe the way it works is the Line Judge is the guy who stands at the line of scrimmage on the side of the field where the official chains are. The Linesman is on the opposite side. When you watch the replay, you see the guy on the near side with the big "L" on his back (insert joke here) spot the ball. That is the guy from Grand Rapids.

On ESPN they said the ref who spotted the ball was from Michigan. Can anyone confirm that?
