Again, level of competition.

Folks had voters fatigue with Lebron.

Reggie played against Jordan, Magic, Bird etc and still managed to be a HoFer.

I have no idea what Durant will be at the end of his career.

But, I do know his level of competition was pedestrian in comparison.

Yeah and I don't buy the level of competition argument. The East sucked but the West was very tough and Westbrook missed half the season. Miller could never do what Durant did this year if he was in his prime now.

And Miller played against Bird and Magic for like 2 years(and he wasn't even good his first 2 seasons). The talent in the 90's wasn't that great.

That would be your opinion and you are entitled to it.

I see it differently.

Saying Durant is better than Reggie because of MVP's is like saying Steve Nash was better than Stockton/Thompson.

And considering the topic of conversation is " Bird vs. Lebron " this thread must be full of idiots because we are all comparing the two.

Norm Nixon, Michael Cooper, and others, whose play JOHNSON elevated.

Cooper was a rookie then Magic came next year. Magic kicked Nixon to the curb. And I think Magic is the best player ever so don't know what you're talking about him. I think it's absurd to say Bird was better then Kareem. Elevation of teammates is silly argument but if that's the sole reason for Bird being better then more power to you. Every other measure goes to Kareem.

You are comparing Reggies entire career to a much smaller sample size with Durant.

Quality of competiton matters.

People forget when the Raps were kicking LA's ass & Kobe put the team on his back & he single handedly carried them to a win with an amazing 81 point performance.

I was at that game, totally incredible. Something Lecramper will never do.

Absolutely. Durant has skills that translate to any era. Athletically those 3 guys wouldn't be able to keep up with Durant.

But Miller didn't play against those guys in his prime did he? Miller's prime consisted of the Bulls and Knicks. So don't see the comparison.

Reggie MIller actually played against MJ every game apparently.

So, according to your logic....

Dirk, > Duncan because he scored more points?

Antawn Jamison > Kevin McHale

Disagree about Durant.

He would get manhandled.

Yes, you are correct about Reggie.

He was in the Jordan era.

Jordan, Drexler etc....

Last time I checked, Jordan was the GOAT.

Reggie did okay against those guys.

It depends on which Kobe shows up. But Kobe at 29 was pretty ridiculous. Lebron's clearly the better overall player (defense, passer, driving through the lane). But when Kobe's jump shot is on, it's hard to duplicate that offensive performance. I'll just take Wade from 2006.

Durant would get manhandled how? He's bigger and better then Reggie and like you said Reggie did alright.

But you still the guy who says level of competition matters and Reggie's level of competition consisted of Bulls and Knicks. You would think he would dominate against the crappy East teams wouldn't' you?

Kobe never had melt down games like LBJ has had in the Finals. I think he has 3 of the top 5 of all time between great players. This year he was missing in action 2 of the 5 games. What I hate about LBJ is he waits to score. Miami Heats melt down this year was because LBJ didn't want to take over the game. He always tries to get his teammates involved. He needs to know when they don't have it and take over. Also hate that LBJ hates taking the last shot. He passes the ball 90% of the time in those situations.

Kobe is the better shooter and scorer then LBJ, but LBJ is the better overall player. I still take Kobe over LBJ every day of the week. There is a reason why Kobe has 5 rings.

Durant and Reggie play different positions.

If we are talking the Bird era....He gets manhandled by Bird, Worthy, Wilkins etc.

But, as you pointed out, Reggie was not from that era either.

I'm still the "Gal" who says that, yes.

Go back and check out that 30 for 30 special.

Reggie did okay in his day.

No matter what evidence you present to the contrary, he is a UCLA guy.

Therefore my response will forever be: :lalala:
